Rohr: : NFF Officials Can’t Influence My Selection

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr insists he will not allow intefrence in his selection of players for the team, reports Completesports.com.

Nigeria Football Federation president, Amaju Pinnick stated in a television interview on Monday that Rohr would be mandated to reside in Nigeria and monitor the Nigeria Professional Football League as part of the conditions for him to be handed a new contract.

But the German tactician declared that he would only select players on merit irrespective of where they are playing.

“I know he (Pinnick) sometimes has a different opinion to mine, but then, it is football. I never accept it to make a choice coming from the officials; my choice is the choice of sports arguments only, to take the best players,”Rohr told reporters in Uyo on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, we could not take more players from the local league because they did not play, so it was difficult for them to be fit.

“I know that some people cannot be happy about my choice but I can tell you it is my choice, it is always honest.”

Dear Mr. Pinnick, please make our league enticing, consistent and competitive and you won’t need to mandate any coach to select a player from it.

Stephen Keshi selected Sunday Mba from this league without being mandated to do so because the guy was good.

Please do something about our local league!!!

Our home based players were given a great chance to play themselves into the main Super Eagles team. We all saw how they crumbled against ordinary home based Togo team. Is that what they will play if some of them are used to displace the classy Super Eagles team that drew against Brasil and came 3td at the African Nation Cup Finals. Oga Pinnick. Don’t take this local content issue too far. It may succeed in other spheres of life but, definitely not in Super Eagles of Nigeria.

I think Rohr is on track, Akpeyi is inform, last week in SA he saved two penalties. Onuachi is doing well in Belgium. For Olayinka, Ejuke and other inform players they should be patient and continue working hard I know Rohr will invite them.I it’s a gradual process everyone can’t be invited the same time. It’s unprofessional to mandate a coach select players from our league when there better choices elsewhere and it will boomerang. NFF/Amaju should be careful. Don’t destroy what Rohr is building. I took Westerhoof about 4 years to build the ’94’SE.
