Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, is eagerly preparing for at trip to Garoua – the Cameroon city that will host his team’s AFCON 2021 Group D games and get firsthand information about the venue’s conditions with which he will prepare for the tournament, Completesports.com reports.
AFCON 2021 draw has pitted Nigeria, Sudan, Guinea Bissau and Egypt in Group D which Rohr has described as a very difficult group, but expressed firm optimism that the Eagles will advance from the Garoua centre.
The AFCON 2021 will kick off on January 9 2022, and Super Eagles will clash with the Pharaohs of Egypt in the matchday-1 of Group D at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua on January 11, then face Sudan on January 15 before taking on Guinea-Bissau four days later.
Garoua, a northern Cameroonian city, has a proximity to Nigeria via the Benue River. And Rohr is happy that the location can facilitate a massive travelling fans of Super Eagles crossing over to support the team.

“Yes the Group D is a difficult group, you have Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau and you have to be very strong to come out of this group to play in the last 16 of this tournament,” Rohr said.
“We are going to Garoua – the venue of our Group D matches, to check out the training pitch, hotels, transport, stadium and weather conditions. It will be very important to be well prepared. I think Garoua is not far from Nigeria, so we are happy that we will be playing before our fans
Rohr added: “We have to do everything to be ready for this big tournament and have to put up our best performance as possible and see where it will take us to.”
The Super Eagles finished third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, and will be hoping to do better this time around in Cameroon by winning the trophy for the fourth time.

In January there should be harmattsn conditions in Garoua with temperatures not exceeding 26 degrees in daytime no chances of rain. Ideal for soccer if pitch will be watered shortly before kickoff! In the dusty environment the ball will swing appreciably in the air. Goalkeepers must watch out in dead ball situations.
Mr. Rhor if you want to win this trophy, you must change SuperEagles pattern and style of play that means you must change it to a defensive way which has a pressing and proper recoveries by defensive midfieders and center backs with proper recoveries by wing backs or backs only;for example when you play Eygypt you must recover and press on Mhohammed Salah in order to hinder or to stop his movements and his pace toward SE goal so Ndidi must hinder him from his left foot then Onyeka or Aribo follow Ndidi behinde his back with pressing over him(Salah). On back line Rhor must learn his center back how to avoid set-pieces whih Nigerian center or wing back can’t deal with them; Mohammed Salah has a genius dealing with set-pieces so SE must take care for this matter. In attackt Rhor must give instructions for wingers or attackting midfielders to paly a crosses shots for attackters like Onauchu who has agenius head kicks : if you (Rhor) play with this style you can win the trophy…
Face fear face…. Face fear face for where? Una dey see that face? Abeg moke Una look that face well well. You wan try face? ROHR NO SEND ANYONE. HE IS IN CONTROL . CARRY GO ROHR, NOTHING DO YOU. God willing, AFCON CUP IS COMING TO NIJJA NEXT YEAR. WASHERE…OMO.
The Super Eagles is loaded with players that can conquer any team in the World not just Africa but lacks lacks the technically sound bench that has the HMMMMN to make the team really jell.
@ Frank Smith thank you…nice talk, that is the point what is the need of having abundant talent yet not able to conquer the world really coach Rohr has abundant talent but lack technicality, imagine you have players like Osimhen,Moffi,Kelechi,Denis,Etebo,Ndidi,Iwobi,Aribo,Onyeka, and so on, from now on really Rohr has no excuse he should know that come afcon he must get to the final or kindly excuse super eagles.
