Rohr: Super Eagles Will Be Ready For 2022 World Cup Qualifiers

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr insisted his team will be ready for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this year despite their poor showing in the international friendlies against Cameroon, Completesports.com reports.

The three-time African champions lost 1-0 to the Indomitable Lions in the first friendly last Friday.

The West Africans were totally outplayed in the second friendly which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Rohr is however confident the team will be ready to get off to a good start in the qualifiers in September.

“We will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers,”the German tactician told the NFF media after the game against Cameroon.

“We hope the fans can return to the stadium in September after this crazy Pandemic (Coronavirus), which has made everything difficult.

“We have to start well in Lagos (vs Liberia) and four days later, we play in Cape Verde.

“Cape Verde beat Cameroon 3-1 on their synthetic pitch recently. So, we know already that it will be very difficult.

“Our first two matches are very, very important.”

The Super Eagles will host Liberia in their first game in the qualifiers and then travel away to Cape Verde for the second fixture.

This guy is a joker. Yesterday, Super Eagle was unable to beat Cameroonian team B. Cameroonian coach changed almost all the players that beat Nigeria in the first leg still we can’t beat them.

I was expecting the coach to come and change nigerian focus to world cup qualifier and that’s what He did this morning. He will use those milky mouse team in our group in world cup qualifier to shine. forgetting that we are going to meet strong teams in Nations cup.

Rohr has been Nigeria coach for five years now. even a student that gained admission to study engineering same day that this man was employed as Super Eagle coach in private university would have graduated by now. Stil we are yet to have a team that can handle big team in Africa.

we have talented players in Nigeria no doubt but give all the best ingredients to someone that don’t know how to cook soup, the soup will still be a mess.

we have indigenous coach that won’t collect up to what we are paying this man and will deliver. someone like Amunike.

I have said it before and I’m saying it again, with the way I see this man Nigeria will not win any cup under him. You can even read it from is comment before and after every game.

      God bless Nigeria

@Glory Lol i just had to set that one straight people should not spread false rumours about the lines up of the teams.. Any true Nigeria football follower would not have made the comment @Godsate made. if Indeed they actually know our current crop of players

I mean VO9 alone is a game changer so is Samuel Chukwueze. I mean Zaidu Sanusi who was dynamite for Porto in Champions League. there is no doubt these three would have impacted the games, let us criticise objectively.

I personally I will not shy away to criticise Rohr when he under performs with a full strength squad, everyone here knows that. not when he has up to 9 regular players missing that is bordering unfair.

Even with ejaria, lookman, olise nothing will still happen we will not win anything.the man said he wants players from Bayern, real Madrid, Liverpool, etc lookman and co are not playing there so,no hop because that won’t happen anytime soon.

In as much as I didn’t appreciate the results from the friendlies,I am not the least worried going forward. We would do good when the real men show up.

The bane is that there wasn’t anything surprising from the friendlies. Rohr acted in character. Rigid.

What we have known about Onuachu and Iwuala was made emphatically clear.Hype.Not good enough.

If we look beyond emotions,we all know who should lead the line in terms of our attacking positions.

Based on precedence and form,my humble self rate Osimhen,Sadiq,Dessers higher than anyone else. I dare say, Even Simy is better than Onuachu.

let’s imagine that Osimhem and Aribo decided not to follow us to nations cup, does it mean that we won’t be able to face all these north African nations?

Rohr is still making errors that he made in the last nations and world cup matches and he is not ready to change.
A good coach must be able to read the game as it’s progressing and developed tactics with the available players to win the opponent.

If you look at our matches, technical inputs from our bench is always almost zero.

Ndi Rohr is a PE teacher. Ngwa Rohr is not good enough for the Super Eagles. Shame no catch you na? The coach now states we are ready for the World Cup qualifiers. Ngwa is that not good enough?? Be satisfied with what you have. Rohr is better than Pep Guardiola. Take it or leave it.

The loss against Cameron in d first leg made them play with so much confidence in d second game, while our guys were jittery, going forward I would advice the coach to stop forcing miss in the team,he has clearly past his prime,we are going into WC qualifiers for God’s sake,we need players for the future,an ejuke should take his place and play so that he will be confident enough over time,Musa has done well for Nigeria but in football u can’t give what u dont have ..the likes of iwuala should not be called up any more till he is ready for national team, right now he ain’t ready, same goes to the 30 Gail’s man.how do u score all these goals in ur club and anytime u were the super eagles jersey, all get from him is to balloon the ball away.he has returned to factory settings same as iheanacho who after each game ,leaves us confused as to wheather to play him in attack , number 10 ,wing etc he fumbles any where u play him.i have studied the super eagles since rohr took over and it seems it was because we were having a bad run bf he came and due to the quality of players we had at the time,Victor Moses, mikel, and ighalo and determination of the boys, they stepped up and qualified from a difficult group.the problem rohr has now is that he is still living in the past,we are no longer in 2016,some of those players are either retired or have lost form,eg people like Simon moses,Musa, iwobi, iheanacho and shehu are no longer the players they used to be in the past.rohr should have focused on his midfield,in ite and use different midfielders and try to solve goal scoring problems.how many Gail’s has Simon scored fo SE? same goals to iheanacho and co.witjout a good midfield,if u like play lewandoski ,he will be like onuachu.we need to scout for midfielders and focus less on strikers and wingers Everytime we have a match ,rohr invited up to 19 attackers and only 3 midfielders and each time we struggle for goals,u can do same thing Everytime and expect a different result.we need to concentrate on midfielders period.

      Very boring!
With this Franco German Coach, Gernot Rohr in charge,Nigerian football is going nowhere. It shall be on the decline.
The NFF officials have made it differences to sack him. A whooping sum of $2M to be paid to him on termination of his appointment.
Surely, NFF officials have cuts from this bogus contract. It’s a scam and all the officials needed to be investigated.

Which other players is Rohr referring to when he said we didn’t have regulars? If there are no players what about Onuachu, the highest goal scorer in Europe. Kelechi was exceptional in England. Our goalkeepers, Okoye, was doing well in Holland. Indidi was a dictator in the Leicester midfield recently. Tell me which dept of the field coach Rohr doesn’t ave good legs. Please change this coach now.

I’m confident that my SuperEagles will rise to the occasion when it’s that time. Whatever happened afterwards so be it. Mr stupid imbecile what results are you crying about?? Is it the ones that we failed to qualify for 3 out of 4 AFCONS?? Or the ones that we’ve qualified for 2 consecutive AFCONS?? It is only a Chimpanzee brain like yours that see a pattern a failure. I thought by now, NFF should have announced the departure of coach Rohr.

This coach have failed over the five years and he have over stayed.

NFF should give us four years. Yes, all we needed Is four years.

Now, NFF should have a law in place. This law should get everyone involved including NFF members.

Anybody that caught doing any atrocities around our sports should be fired immediately.

Now, get Amunike, Manu Garba, Egbo, Enyeama and Ikeme on board. Give them four years to build this Super Eagles team.

If they fail, then NFF should turn back to foriegn coach.

By hiring these our ex players, NFF won’t spend more money, they will build us a solid team in less than two years and taking world by storm.

Oga Rohr have wasted five years for nothing.

Let’s look at the Cameroonian coach they he organized his team both on Friday and on Tuesday encounters.

He made his substitutions around 55 to 60 minutes and in yesterday match, he changed the entire team and made his substitutions earlier in the match while our coach as usual didn’t allow his new players to play and the one that tested the actions were given few minutes, is that how you build a team? Is that how you prepare a team for world cup and Afcon?

Amunike, Egbo, Marnu Gerba, Enyeama and Ikeme should be the new Super Eagles coaches.

No time to check time. Do something NFF. God bless Nigeria!!!

I’m sorry Omo9ja Rohr has met his target of qualifying for the afcon and the world cup playoffs is on the way until he fails to qualify for the world cup I do not see any need for his sack unfortunately.
You do not sack a coach that has met targets in official games only for losing and playing a draw in just a friendly game.I do not see that happening unfortunately.

Sir, are you satisfied with what you saw on Friday and on Tuesday against Cameroon?

Remember that the gaffer have bn with the team for five years and compare his subs and tactics to the new coach of the Cameroonian team.

Let assumed you were the owner of the Super Eagles. What would you do in this situation?

I am waiting for your reply sir.

@Omonaija .. What make you feel Amunike, Manu Garba, Egbo, Enyeama and Ikeme will work together ?

Who will be the head coach and head goalkeeper trainer ?

Last time I check , If Amunike can’t work as assistant to Rohr , what make you feel he would work under EGBO and Vice Versa ?

Why do you think Ikeme would work under Enyeama and Vice Versa ?

You don’t just assemble a fantasy coaching crew and team as Reality is different from Fantasy .

Reality is not social media and football fantasy bro .

        nairaland.com/6304793/amuneke-im-good-enough-super

What make you feel the players would even respect the names you mentioned above or accept them because last time I check , tons of footballers have egos .

I’m sure you still remember OLISEH saga with the national team right ?

Both players and coach having egos problem which causes unrest in the team

        planetfootball.com/quick-reads/15-of-the-premier-leagues-most-uncontainable-egos/

Rohr is this and that , Coaching is more than just typing and assembling players to train and play .

Most Nigerians Coaches have Zero man management and that is crystal clear for everyone else you want to deny that .

In conclusion , even with the names you listed above . SE would surely loose some matches , draw some matches and win some matches BECAUSE in football , no team dey win all matches

The names you mentioned does not guarantee that SE would win the next AFCON or WORLDCUP after Rohr exists .

A certain Mourinho with tons of Trophy didn’t win any cup with Tottenham Hot Spurs ( ZERO TROPHRY ) .

A certain Roberto Martínez is the national team coach of Belgium since 2016 and currently the best team in the world . Yet Belgium never win WORLDCUP or EUROS .

Infact Belgium played a draw recently with tons of Countries include the latest match with GREECE .

FOOTBALL IS NOT A FANTASY WORLD AND THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND FANTASY .

Guys easy, I think the problem is from the technical bench and I will explain.Rohr need a lot of help. We need a very competent and astute coach as assistant to Rohr.He will act as the match reader and makes recommendations to Rohr for implementation.

The late keshi had the technically brilliant sylvanus okpalla and Houndinuo( who he pays from his pocket) Westerhof had Jo Bonfrere.Siasia had Simon Kalika the dutch tactical master.Fanny Amu had the late abdullahi doing all the tactical work.

Rohr have the inexperienced Joseph …….. I leave you to fill the gaps

Amunike would have fitted the bill perfectly but having being head coach of Tanzania, it is beneath him to become an assistant .Besides his salary in Egypt is fantastic for him to consider leaving.the NFF can hire Okpalla or bring back Manu to add steel to the technical bench

That’s a different level of hand now, owo onirun, hehe my advice is I know that you have it in you and also the situation on ground, but as long as you choose to carry on, then do the right thing, draw an immediate line under some people’s participation in the SE – I’m sure you you and your team know the ones in question, I won’t mention any names, but know this – you are in a very good situation, all you need to do is put some work in and change that team! many names have been bandied about and you know them all, there are even more- those who we don’t know of/haven’t heard of.
Please Oga Rohr, do the right thing, it will be better even to go there and lose every game with kids/a new team because the same thing is surely going to be the outcome with the team as it currently is but it will be better at least with a new team and you never know, everyone knows we (Nigerians) are naturally blessed with talent, all that’s required is a competent mind to galvanise the raw material and surprise the world again as we have done once or twice in the past!

For me I think we don’t ve a solid team yet, and Rohr’s not doing enough to build a fearsome team, maybe he has given us is best, and his best might not be good enough for us. Can u guys what the Phoenix suns doing in NBA playoffs with a young team, young coach.By the AY my Bro Rohr’s not the only coach in the world.

Of course Rohr is not the only coach in the world. He will move on afterwards. At least after the AFCON. My question is which better option do we have at the moment? And please I don’t want to hear Amunike, Emenalo. Egbo and what not. How are they different from Oliseh who ran away in the middle of an important qualifier?? Can they work 6,7 months without getting paid?? Remember when top coaches were avoiding the SuperEagles job like a plague because they felt the target given to them was unrealistic. Only Rohr accepted the challenge and qualify for the Mundial from an almost impossible group. Now he has met his target therefore, I see no reason why he can’t continue because of an inconsequential friendly match. We created barrage of chances despite only getting together 2 days to the first fixture. Our focus now is the WorldCup qualifiers and the AFCON proper. The WorldCup qualifiers will determine the AFCON squad. Thank goodness we now have the options of Ejaria, Lookman and possibly Olise. I’m absolutely optimistic about my SuperEagles.

@Sunnyb .. You’re wrong as the Phoenix suns is made up of Veterans and young cores . Last time I check the team have one of the best PG ever in basketball ( Point Guard ) in Basketball in CP3 ( Chris Paul ) and other veterans in Dario Saric & Jae Crowder .

CP3 has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, two Olympic gold medals, and led the NBA in assists four times and steals a record six times. He has also been selected to eleven NBA All-Star teams, nine All-NBA teams, and nine NBA All-Defensive teams.

Ayton is a future DPOY and Booker is a scoring machine in NBA ( Top 10 best player under 25 player ) .

So please don’t compare SUNS and SE as we don’t even have such tools @ all to make such comparison

It also took years for the SUNS to have this current team and chemistry .

Don’t forget this is their 1st NBA Playoff in eleven years ( 11 years ) .

So my brother , SE fans no get that kind joy or patience biko .

Pls NFF should sack Rohr now and let us have peace biko. NFF should sack Rohr and go bring the Amuneke and Finidi they will owe for 2 years (both players and coaches) and expect unbeaten streaks…LMAO.
And mind you his replacement MUST win AFCON o. We dont want to hear stories. That magician that will replace rohr and will never lose or draw matches MUST win the next AFCON. Because Rohr has suffered over the years to build a team that even the B squad can stop 2017 champions and the next hosts Cameroon from creating any clear cut chances in 2 consecutive matches

Why I understand the worry but I don’t think it should be overblown. The Super Eagles is not in crisis. Far from it.

We haven’t lost in a competitive match since our loss to the eventual winners at the last Afcon,Algeria. That’s something.

Teams like Ghana,Cameroon,Egypt etc.have being blighted.
      So I see no crisis.

We have a good team. We all know our starting eleven. The problem is we haven’t gotten the replacement sorted out yet. That could be remedied. We have the materials for that.

We should hold our horses; even if we disagree in issues relating to tactics and selection,it should be constructive and not come from a place of unnecessary panic.

Though I do have my concerns and reservations about Rohr in some instance, I am still confident. For what’s worth, he has never failed to qualify, there is a balance in the team( when everyone is around) and more importantly, there is calm and respect in the team.

Let’s take it easy and see how things play out..

When I say some people doesn’t have sense they will say we are insulting them. How can they say a team with Chopo moting in Cameroon starting eleven is the second team. The fact that their coach changed is started eleven from the previous match mean what? This idiot as usual displaying his lunatic by listing all the nigeria indigenous coaches to coach the team at once as if it its from his father pocket that they will be paid. Hatred and sentiment has blighted their sence of reasoning..

Super eagles finally going against another competitive team, which is a really good time to rate them. In my opinion the top African teams in no order are Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Cost, Algeria and Morocco, which Nigeria is last out of the group.

A lot of these countries are colonized by France. In which these players are already playing in the top 5 league, ligue 1 or French ligue being 5 in the uefa ranking. A Lot of those players are starters too. Crazy thing is half of the players are born in France and choose to play for their French colonized country. To me the reason being is that they have enough top tier players with experience to actually compete and win things. Where is Nigerian people are always begging and pleading for foreign born Nigerians to play for them. But I always say they will easily outgrow the team, knowing few are actually good enough to compete and might get tired of carrying the team.

Nigeria only chance to stay in competition is through friendlies where the coach stay experimenting, so many one, two or three capped players. The lineups are never consistent. But people here eat anything. There was an article where a bunch of players dropped out because they were injured, I don’t know if that was true or if the players even pull through. But I saw the lineup and found at it was true. I read somewhere else that the reason players dropped out was because of unpaid wages, like always. It was no coincidence that a bunch a players decided that they were injured. Now tell me, why would a foreign born Nigerian would come play for Nigeria when you might not get your money, but in Europe you are most certain. Same thing with the women’s team, the women were protesting.

Back to my point, another way for Nigerians to compete is through the fifa youth competition, its how Osimhen and Chuckweze got recognized. Nigeria has the most u-17 world cup, but that doesn’t translate well for the final team they cant even make it past the second round. Lastly is through relegated or under 1 tier teams and or out of the top 4 uefa leagues and work your way up. Ngolo kante played in French third tier league, then worked his way up. Sadio Mane worked his way up. Edouard Mendy was unemployed, was constantly trying to make a team, then he got noticed by chelsea goal keeper Peter. The thing is outside of foreign born players in France they are players born in Senegal, Ivory Cost, Cameroon and etc that are being scouted by French people and others, and they get to play for top tier teams. While in Nigeria Taiwo Awoniyi was scouted by Liverpool, but he didn’t get his papers in order which put him on a whole bunch of loan spells, he got his papers late and now he might get sold to a mediocre team, that’s on him.

When I watch Senegal, Cameroon, Morocco, Algeria and Ivory Cost, I’m like I know most of these players. While super eagles I know few by heart like Osimhen, Chuckweze, sadly Iwobi, Kelechi and Ndidi. All people do here is post new players that should play for super eagles every other day, which relates to my point how there’re so many players with less than 5 caps for the team. Which disrupts the synergy and partnerships with players.

For a team to win something the whole foundation has to be good. I know Nigerians here are corrupted by heart by promoting a bunch of players to be slaves, working for free, imagine that. I thought slavery ended. I just don’t see the super eagles being successful where the federation cant even pay its players, its just not gonna happen. And I dont care about what a past player said about should of played of Nigeria because I would have played more, even for free than playing a few time for England because they will actually pay me, thats the stupidest comment I ever heard. Yall really have no jobs to keep talking about Eze, Lookman, Aridibayo, Nmecha etc every other day. Why would a European born Nigerian getting paid come play for Nigeria and not get paid? Spamming their social media is not gonna help either. These players will have great club careers, but not national team careers. People keep dreaming and hoping, hope is irrational. All this team is gonna do is rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. People reject a call up and or not playing because they are not getting paid then they look for another sucker. Just a bunch of poor players who been relegated or dropped down from a league. From poor Collins to Awaziem.

But how was that first game? It was bad when they were playing with the sprinklers on, in Austria. my gosh. Andre Aguissa shot could of been saved, but the keeper was late. Like I said there are numerous goal keepers from French colonized African countries that play first ligue in France, even democratic Congo players. While people here desperate hanging on to Okoye. Cameroon, Senegal, Congo producing great goal keepers able to play in top leagues. Onana play for ajax that almost made it to the champions league finals. I guess Iwobi poor performance from Everton carried on to the team. Carlo Ancelotti left, I want to see if his performance change with a new coach, because I was not feeling him. But nice to see Olayinka

For the second game Marcus Abraham had energy, was seeing him up and down. Olayinka needs more chances. The game was still poor, Rohr aint getting paid so he hitting it where it hurts. This guy is going o two world cups. Even of Rohr gets fired, who they gonna get? Who wants this job?
