Rohr Wants Eze To Commit Future To Nigeria

Rohr Wants Eze To Commit Future To Nigeria

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr hopes Eberechi Eze will agree to switch allegiance and play for the three-time African champions, reports Completesports.com.

Eze, 21, was born in London, but is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents.

The Queens Park Rangers midfielder trained with the Super Eagles in March 2017, when they visited London for friendlies against the Terangha of Lions and Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Hs has however made a handful of appearances for England’s U-20 and U-21 sides.

The NFF are serious in their attempts to make Eze commit his international future to Nigeria but the player is not willing to make a decision yet.

“We hope Eze will come. But you know there is a process to follow,”Rohr told ESPN.

“If they play already for the youth team in England or other countries, there is a process, write a letter, go to the FIFA commission, and so on.”

  • Please let us bring this unending story of Eze to the End. Let us focus on those who are willing. There are other good players awaiting a call up like Ejuke. This Eze story is becoming very boring. please let him be.

  • Please let us bring this Eze story Eze to an End. It is very clear he is not interested. Let us focus on those who are willing. There are other good players awaiting a call up like Ejuke. If Netherlands show interest in Ejuke now we will suddenly turn around with cap in hands begging him. This Eze story is becoming very boring. please let him be.

Good move, but if Eze is not ready 2 learn from J.Ibe,Agbonlahor,he stay should put with England. My believe is dat no matter what u are playing,u cannot surpass d record feat of Lookman,Solanke,Ejaria,Onomah winning FIFA u-20 World Cup 4 England. And despite ds no one has been handed a call-up England senior national team.
Look at d case of Chuba Akpom,he would have switch while Iwobi switched when Nigeria didn’t have strikers apart from Ighalo & have d opportunity 2 features in WORLD CUP and AFCON.And it I already late bcoz there is Chukwueze,Dessers,Onyekuru,Osimhen.
    U better decide in time.

Bright Osayi apart from Eberechi Eze, is another player Gernot Rohr is looking at in that QPR team. I feel Eberechi should make up his mind in time..Time waits for no man and delay might be very dangerous. Just like @Tunde pointed out in the case of Chuba Akpom, I honestly hope he gets a chance.

He should learn from Tammy and Tomiri. Or better still he should go and seek advice from them. I’m very sure, if Tomiri can undo what he has done,he will not even think twice before reversing him decision of playing for England. Because he was playing regularly for Chelsea, his ego came high like that of tolotolo. The same thing Tammy. Playing 8mins out of 94-96mins and he is claiming to be playing for England. Eze be wise ooooooo. Try and have sense. Go and ask Aina, Iwobi, Aribo etc. A word is enough for the wise.

  • _ Another Eberechi Story? _

Quite frankly, I think Nigerian online media outlets carry the story of Eberechi Eze only to draw traffic to their sites because – let’s face it – the England youth International is holding out for a senior team call up from Gareth Southgate (England manager).

And there is good reason for the 21 year old to be optimistic about this.

Eze has been nothing but phenomenal in the English Championship this season. His goals, link up play and all round performances have been jaw dropping at times. In fact, the only reason why many believe that he hasn’t earned an England call up is because of the league he plays his football which is about to change as he is being linked to Premier League clubs next season.

To be honest, I think Eze knows it and he would much rather play for England but will settle for Nigeria if he fails to maintain such a blistering form at a much higher level.

“People are going to start talking about him playing for England,” said former England striker Les Ferdinand who went on to add: “a lot of the time you need to be in the Premier League to be recognised but he has shown the kind of form.

And, if he continues to develop in the way he is developing and keeps showing the type of football he has been playing, he is certainly going to put himself in the frame (to be invited by Southgate) “. Concluded Ferdinand on Sky Sports.

So, for me, the devil is in the detail: If Eberechi continues on this upward trajectory, he is English; if he stagnates or proves that he can only cut it sharply in the English Championship, then he is Nigerian.

It doesn’t have to be that way but I think England is where his heart lies.

The difference between him and say Iwobi is that even whilst playing for a big club like Arsenal (with realistic promise of being a truly world class player), Iwobi’s mind was made up – it is Super Eagles all the way (and we in turned have warmed to him ever since).

Which leads me to say that there is no point covering Eberechi’s ‘Nigeria vs England choice’ stories any more. It is becoming stale.

We know who we are, does he? I think he does, so let’s leave it at that.

  • Oga leave this boy called Eze alone, is it by force to play for Nigeria. let those who are ready play, stop mounting pressure on him, he will regret later.

Frankly speaking Nigeria does not need Eze especially now that Ejaria Ovie has switch to S.E willingly.whom will Ese bench in the current team. I want to implore fans to watch Ejaria and Eze on youtude. I have done that and i can tell whoever cares to listen that Ejaria is far better than Eze. Ejaria is very strong on the ball , has better vision and tackles. Pls super Eagles dont need Eze . Lets celebrate Ejaria who has s heart for Nigeria .He is a better cover for iwobi
