Cristiano Ronaldo has proved to a big hit with a Juventus supporter in more ways than one following an incident during the warm-up ahead of the clash against with Chievo Verona earlier this month.
The Portuguese superstar was getting in some last-minute shooting practice on the Allianz Stadium pitch when he fired a wayward effort into the stand.
Unfortunately for Juve fan Elene Di Martino the fierce strike hit her full force in the face, injuring her nose and smashing her glasses.
The bloodied fan was treated on the spot and watched as Juve romped to a 3-0 with a bandage on her injured face.
Taking to social media after the game, Di Martinoexplained how she picked up the injury from a Ronaldo effort and when called up by the media to talk about the incident, she jokingly said: “Cristiano is an idol for me, and after that hit I expect him to invite me to dinner at least.”
Ronaldo, who joined Juve from Real Madrid in the summer in a deal worth over 100 million euros and has scored 15 goals in 21 Serie A outings to date to help the Bianconeri remain undefeated and sit at the top of the table, subsequently heard about Di Martino’s story.
And, while the 33-year-old didn’t invite her out to dinner, he did ask her along to one of the team’s training sessions to see the players put through their paces by coachMassimiliano Allegri.
Afterwards, Di Martino was handed one of Ronaldo’s famous No7 shirts by way of an apology for inadvertently injuring her face.
Posting on photos of her day out on social media she added the message: “My present for the ball hitting me. A champion on and off the pitch… CR7.”
