Sadiq: Return To ‘Second Home’ Roma Possible

Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq says he will consider a return to his former club AS Roma in future.

Sadiq linked up with Roma on a permanent deal from Spezia in 2016 after a previous loan stint at the club.

The 25–year-old left for Serbian club Partizan Belgrade on a permanent deal in 2020.

“Roma is my second home. I have my house there and my family,” Sadiq told tribalfootball.com.

“Roma gives me a beautiful atmosphere and everything for me.

“You never know the future. But for now I need to remain focused on my career at UD Almeria.”

Sadiq also speaks fondly of his time with Partizan.

The Super Eagles star scored 23 goals in 52 appearances for the Serbian giants.

“Partizan is a team that remains in my heart,” Sadiq added. “The club wanted me when no team wanted me. I was in a very difficult situation and partizan made me come back into football life, All I have is love for Partizan.”

    GEN GEN GEN!
    The return of lege lege!
With lege lege and the bicycle kick striker, we can see that Nigeria has the deadliest attack in African football at the moment. No diggity, no doubt!

  • pompei 2 years ago

    We’ve got all these strikers:
    1) Sadiq “DADDY LONG LEGS” Umar
    2)Osimhen
    3) Dessers
    4) Awoniyi
    5) Onuachu
    6) Moffi
    7) Iheanacho,
    8) and possibly Solanke
    Just to name some.
Nigeria looks spoilt for choice in the striker department, ON PAPER.
Only a good gaffer can turn this PAPER ADVANTAGE into an advantage on the pitch.
SE must get a quality gaffer to replace OUR OWN. It’s non-negotiable.

      Can’t agree less @POMPEI

Quality…top top quality is the way to go, otherwise we will waste a GOLDEN generation like Belgium did persisting with ROBERT MARTINEZ (He underachieved imho with the plethora of talents at his disposable). He kept getting unstuck whenever he met opponents with better COACHING!

We do not want FOREIGN Borns, yet we don’t have any HOME grown; NAIJA league or ACADEMIES who is as good as TOSIN ADARABIOYO at the moment. And I stand to be corrected.

No RB/RWB as good as OLA AINA, EBUEHI, ODUBAJO

      • @Mahmud Shuaib It is very loose talk to conclude Belguim have not made most of thier Golden generation as it stands they are still in the era of that Golden Generation you speak off as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Alex Winstel, Eden Hazard, Jan Wertogen, Osimhen Teamate Dries Merthens to name a few are still in good shape and are entering the World cup in Top form like Kevin Debruyne where they are still considered one of the favourites let us not forget Ivory coast only picked up a gold medal with thier golden generation in their final attempt albiet in the twilight of most of thier stars career’s much like Belgium so if Belguim go on and win the world cup which is highly possible then nko?.

Brotherman, We even have world class wingers like Samuel Chukwueze who can also play as a center forward if needs be. His unpredictability is second to none.
Heaven bless Chukwueze wazzer dazzler and all unpredictable Super Eagles wingers.

      • @Ignatius Abo that is what I was telling our forum brothers, i.e. @JimmyBall so other of our eligion, who were suggestion Moses Simon because of 1 good AFCON is better than Chukwueze I will still say it like I always have on form Chukwueze is still Nigeria’s best winger

Only a good) Experienced coach can manage all these players.
Inexperienced and bad manager will always facing selection problems and possibly inviting wrong players ..
May God help us this time.

@Sean, you left out Ejuke & Sor. I believe they deserve a place in the SE than Olayinka. In the offensive midfield, you listed only Iwobi. You left out Tosin Kehinde & Amoo.

Ejaria is a welcome addition to the SE midfield but we do not have an update on the status of his switch. Someone commented that we would waste a golden generation, i have been screaming this for a while. The people at NFF are just clueless and how they keep their jobs despite the profligacy of amazing talents in the team is beyond me.

In my opinion, there are two departments in the SE that need fixing and these are:

      1. Goal Keeping
      2. Attacking Midfield

Goal Keeping: Adeleye has to get a look in, it is absolute at this point. I was elated that Agu was shown the exit door but I hope Shorunmu would show more fairness. Okonkwo should be sounded out but Tobias Lawal is not available due to rule of a single citizenship in Austria.

Attacking Midfield: We have not done enough in this area. We have stubbornly conceded that Iwobi is the best that we have. I have no problem with the player but i believe that an attacking should offer more than his abilities suggest. Tosin Kehinde has the features to play that role and should given a look in. The boy is just as adept technically as Iwobi but with better dribbling and passing range.

Another is Amoo, huge potential on this kid and what a player! He should be slowly integrated into this team.

Finally, the potential of this SE is huge but I fear this present crop of administrators would waste them as someone alluded. The right decisions need to be made if we are to see the Eagles soar again.

      • Thanks @golden child, that was why I added something like ..”and more to come” ‘cos Nigeria is so blessed that u will surely miss counting. We still have Bazee and Marcus Abraham and others (depending on their forms. ThanKs again.
