Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq underwent successful surgery on his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament on Thursday, reports Completesports.com.
The White and Blue revealed the exciting news via the social media.
“Sadiq underwent surgery this morning. The operation was successfully carried out with no issues. He will remain in the hospital until Friday or Saturday, depending on his evolution,”reads a tweet on the club’s verified Twitter handle.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury in Real Sociedad’s 2-1 away defeat at Getafe last weekend.
The Nigeria international is now expected to spend around eight months on the sidelines.
The striker only linked up with Real Sociedad on transfer deadline day from Almeria.
Sadiq scored on his debut for the club netting the equaliser in the 1-1 home draw against Atletico Madrid.
He has already scored two goals for Almeria this season before making the switch.
