Salah Not World Class Player –Ex-Liverpool Star

Former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince has said Mohamed Salah may not be a world-class player, but he is definitely a top goalscorer.

Salah was being discussed on talkSPORT Drive following the news that the Saudi Pro League would once again try and lure him to the Middle East.

It comes a year after Liverpool rejected a £150m offer for him, with the moneybags league thought to be readying a similar offer for a player who will soon have 12 months to run on his contract.

“I think his record speaks for itself,” Ince, who played for Liverpool from 1995 to 1997, said when asked about whether Salah can be considered world class. “Is he a world-class player? Technically, I wouldn’t say so.

“I think sometimes when he cuts in on his left foot, putting balls into the box, they are not great.

“But as a far as a world-class player scoring goals and making things happen, I think yes,” Ince stated.

Salah signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2017, joining from Roma, where he stunned the Premier League with a phenomenal debut season.

In 36 Premier League appearances, he scored 32 times and has netted 209 in total from 340 appearances – putting him third in Liverpool’s all-time highest goalscorers list.

That is more than many Liverpool legends, including Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.

He scored 19 Premier League goals in the 2019/20 season as Liverpool won their first domestic league title since 1990.

Also he scored five times en route to Liverpool’s Champions League triumph in 2019, including one in the final against Tottenham.
