Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has once again opted for 4-4-2 formation for his side’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe, reports Completesports.com.
Francis Uzoho kept his position in goal after impressing in the Super Eagles’ last three games.
In the defence, Calvin Bassey has been moved to central defence and will pair Semi Ajayi. Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi will occupy from the right-back and left-back positions respectively.

In midfield, Peseiro opted for Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi with Joe Aribo dropping to the bench.
Leicester City’s Ademola Lookman, who is preferred ahead of Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon will operate from the wings.
Victor Osimhen and Terem Moffi will lead the team’s attack.

Sanusi has been feeling hurt after he lost his place to bassey, I have been following the team via all videos released by nff.. it was so obvious on his face how bad he felt..
Aribo has not brought his club form to the super eagles and probably feeling he is irreplaceable, Happy to see on the bench..
Chukwueze has been poor lately , unknown to him he has alot of players begging for the first team shirt, by the time lookman scores an hat trick today he would know he has to up his game and not continue to miss goal scoring chances, he should learn from desser, who has been rooted to the bench after his terrible misses against Ecuador..
Lastly, I saw the team via nff video when they Left Abuja , moffi was asked how many goals will You score, and he replied, he they even play me I will surely give my best.. that shows he was even sure to play today, but look at him in the starting line up replacing a goal machine in Spain in the person of Sadiq, there was be something the coach saw in training that we are not seeing..

I concur. Foreign coaches especially the ones with “insecure and unstable” contracts will not readily accept interference on their jobs. They easily will perform unless they lose the dressing room

The begining of the end of oyibo wall. It will be very difficult for Ekong to displace any of thr two central defenders after his injury.Ekong do need time on the bench same with chukwueze.You either perform or drop to the bench.
