Huddersfield’s Christopher Schindler is reportedly being targeted by former boss David Wagner, who is now in charge of Schalke. German defender Schindler has become a huge fans’ favourite since joining from 1860 Munich in 2016 and he played a huge role in helping the club earn promotion to the Premier League in the 2016/17 campaign.

The 29-year-old made 74 appearances during Town’s two-year stay in England’s top flight but he was unable to stop his side suffer relegation to the Championship, with just three victories picked up this past campaign. In April, the centre-back, who was made captain by head coach Jan Siewert towards the end of last season, indicated he expected to stay at the John Smith’s Stadium and lead the promotion challenge.
However, Schindler’s former boss Wagner, who is set for busy summer as he bids to overhaul Schalke’s squad, is reportedly looking to acquire the defender’s services in this transfer window. It is thought an offer around £7million will be required for the Royal Blues to sign the German, who has been named Town’s Player of the Year for the last two seasons.
