SPAL have been boosted by the news boss Leonardo Semplici and his coaching staff have extended their contracts until summer 2021. The 51-year-old, who took over at the Stadio Paolo Mazza in December 2014 and has helped guide the team from Serie C to Serie A in that time, was about to enter the final year of his current deal.

However, club officials were keen to keep Semplici on board given he has secured them a third consecutive place in Italy’s top flight. He had been linked with a move to the likes of Fiorentina, Genoa and Sampdoria this summer, so SPAL will be delighted to have tied him down.
