Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman was at his best mettle as he grabbed a brace and provided an assist in Atalanta’s 8-2 win over Salernitana in Sunday’s Serie A game.
The Nigerian international, who was 16th appearance, has netted seven goals and bagged two assists.
Atalanta took the lead in the 5th minute. Jeremie Boga made a shot from outside Salernitana’s penalty box and after a ricochet, it went to Guillermo Ochoa’s net.
Teun Koopmeiners was close to finishing Atalanta’s attack with another goal, but Ochoa deflected the ball after the midfielder’s shot.
Salernitana responded with a goal in the 10th minute. Boulaye Dia went one-on-one with Juan Musso and shot the ball between the legs of the Atalanta goalkeeper.
Atalanta kept attacking in order to come back to the lead, but the attempts were not successful. The home team was awarded a penalty after Federico Fazio fouled on Rasmus Winther Hojlund. Ademola Lookman scored the penalty kick in the 20th minute. Three minutes later, Giorgio Scalvini made the score 3-1 with a header.
Fazio fouled on Hojlund in Salernitana’s penalty box again, resulting in a second penalty kick for Atalanta in the half. Ochoa saved Koopmeiners’ first shot, but the Dutchman picked up the ball and scored. Three minutes later, Hojlund charged to the penalty area and scored Atalanta’s fifth goal of the evening. The first half ended with a 5-1 score.
Dia entered Atalanta’s penalty box with the ball and made a cross to Krzysztof Piątek, but the striker did not manage to make a proper shot.

GOD BLESS GENERAL ROAH wherever HE is for CONVINCING YOU(LOOKMAN) to come PLAY for your MOTHERLAND and making your SWITCH very POSSIBLE and EASY…
This is a cheering news. when is nigeria playing abeg? most of our players are on fire now.
20 March
What we need now are midfielders , Defenders and a reliable goal keeper. The attack is world class and over loaded . We cannot ask for more. Unfortunately the attack cannot be ignited without a good midfield linking it. That’s why I’m calling on Ndidi and other SE midfielders to up their game. Its time Ndidi left Leicester to save his Career..Also the Coaches should come the local league for hard working midfielder s . Another Sunday Mba may be hiding somewhere waiting to be discovered..
Series A goal chart :
1. Osimhen. 12 goals
T2. Lookman. 9 goals
Talents everywhere
When you see what osimhen and lookman are currently doing in the SeriaA (1st and 2nd highest goal scorers) then you will have no other choice than to be angry at those still clamouring for Ighalo and Musa in SE…….It will take time but we need to start building SE around Osimhen and Lookman please for God’s sake…… Sentiment and Football can never get along and produce success.
The super eagles attack is set. osimhen and ademola and probably an isaac success who is very strong, mobile, skillful and good on the ball can make up the front three. we can call them “The Italian Connection”.
The midfield is an issue, but with players like Onyedika, alhassan, still doing well for their clubs, one can only hope if given a chance they would excel in the team.
Our defence has good full-backs especially with bright joining the team. What we need is a good defensive pair in the centre of defence, the players we currently have are not effective enough. i can only imagine a defensive pair of Tomori and Tosin will improve our defence tremendously. Akpoguma, Ekong, semi, omerua are not impressive. The super eagles scouting team should scout more defensive players for the team.
You nailed it.
I agree with the italian connection, they are the best we can count on, only chukueze and malcon ebowi can join. As for deffence i prefer semi ajayi to tomori. olise nda is also a good defender, combination of nda, bassey, ajayi, adaribioyo even ekong is not that bad, it is the weakness of our midfield that is cosing most calamity. is good enough to add alhassan yosuf, ovie ejiara, iwobi, onyeka, ndidi, azubuike, obina nwobodo, these are good enough midfielders to go we cant be hoping on average midfielders like Eze who didnt go to school
Any player that is more than 25 years of age and not still playing in the top 5 league should forget about the SE and develop his career before coming back…… Belgium Portugal Netherlands Denmark Norway and some other solid European league can be considered for players who are still young and have prospects of Moving to bigger leagues……Any player above 25 years of age and still playing in a Division 2 club should not be considered for selection in SE……We must raise the standard of the SE if we want to sit down on the same table as Argentina Brasil France England German Spain and Co……Do you see Players in their late 20s and Early 30s who play in Division 2 leagues commanding first team shirts in this countries I mentioned above????……let’s be sincere we can not plant cassava and harvest yam it’s not magic…… Omeruo Ekong Ajayi Balogun are not too level defenders again……We need to integrate top level centre defenders into the teams ASAP…….Caleb Okoli, Tosin Adarabioyo, Akpoguma,Bassey, all playing in top teams at the moment should be integrated into the team…..Okoli plays for Atalanta,Tosin plays for Fulham, Akpoguma plays for Hoffeinheim,Bassey plays for Ajax, these are top teams where they Rob shoulders with top players on a weekly basis…… Alhassan and Onyedika can be brought into the Midfielder because they are still under 23 and they have the prospect of moving higher in club level soon…… Alhassan is already been linked with a move to the Laliga while Onyedika almost moves to AC Milan last summer…….This is how national team should evolve……The club career of the players should help the national team not the national team helping the club career of the players…….SE needs sound technical directors not career politicians masquerading as technical directors.
@Akp. l totally shares your viewpoint. Some pundits still talking about Ajayi, Ndidi, and all those tired legs who have since lost their ways. A lot of them like Ekong, Ihenacho, are all tired now. Live them alone.
Can someone please help me understand why Nigeria ala Flying eagles gaffer is not inviting Shola Shotire to the flying eagles?
We are struggling to get options for our attacking midfield position for SE, as majority of our midfielders aside IWOBI, Akinwumi Amoo etc, are all central or defensive midfielders. Why not get this budding talent into the flying eagles set up and build him up from there along with Daga n others. Or could it be that he can no longer play for Nigeria or will need a switch? Someone should please update me.
It will be difficult to have the foreign base players to play in the u20 africa of nation because of the timing. If we qualify for the WC; the tournament will be played in the summer we might have some foreign base/foreign born come down.
Thanks @ Mercy. I suggest we reach out to Shotire n Ilenikhena. These two are pure quality, except they aren’t gonna be available.
Already, in flying eagles camp, we have aziaya, a goal keeper from Norwich city, kenny coker an attacker also from norwich and .we are expecting ola-adebomi from crystal palace and a goal keeper, ejeheri with other player both from arsenal . We will surely detect new star from this team.
Well said Brodaman Sean. Must Bosso invite the whole world?? This is how fans with dubious intentions want to force players on the coach. This is the same coach they condemned last year until he shut them up by winning this wafu Cup. Lolzzzz.
Already, Bosso has rejected their bribery in the camp by sticking with players he invited. They now come to CSN with their agenda. Lolzzzz
Those evil fans with evil intentions, we know them.
Heaven bless Bosso and all deserving Flying Eagles coaches who stick with only players they invited.
NDIDI SHOULD BULK UP so he can play as a central defender. His style of play is best suited to a central defender. In midfield he is slow on the ball, he can’t cover much ground, his passing range for long balls is average and he doesn’t support the attack as much as he should. His shooting ability is depressing. So he should be moved to the central defense where he can be making those diagonal and side to side passes to the full backs and let a more dynamic, mobile and creative Centre midfield player take his position. Some will say that he is a defensive midfielder so that is how he is supposed to play but I say to them have you seen Thomas patey, casemeiro, kante play in the defensive midfield for their teams before. Do you notice any difference. They play with so much style, Grace and energy that you sometimes forget they are defensive midfielders. Ndidi style of play is not for the present defensive midfield. He should be moved to Central defense and another player like raphael ONYEDIKA or alhassan yusuf should take his place.
I honestly think Bosso has a better chance of qualifying and doing well at the U20 WC if he sticks with the players he’s been camping with in Nigeria. They’ve been beating clubs and academies left right and center. Having this much foreign based players would kill the team chemistry. I’m all for foreign based players but in age-grade tournaments let’s stick with home talents
Thumbs up brotherman Onwajunior. I n I will always respond to sensible threads. All these touts peddling players up and down are after their fat bellies. Rotten teeth fans only want to destabilise the squad. Bosso must not listen to them.
