Sevilla Announce Lopetegui

Sevilla have confirmed the appointment of former Spain and Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui as their new manager. Sevilla have been on the look-out for a new coach to replace Pablo Machin, who they sacked back in March following their Europa League exit, and have finally turned to Lopetegui.

The 52-year-old was sacked by Spain two days before last summer’s World Cup after it was revealed he would become the next manager of Real Madrid. He did not last long at the Bernabeu either and was sacked by Los Blancos after just four-and-a-half months in charge following an embarrassing 5-1 El Classico defeat against Barcelona.

Lopetgui is now back in work having penned a three-year deal with Sevilla, and will be looking to push for the top four and a Champions League return next season.
