Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has explained why the Rojiblancos signed Chidera Ejuke.
Ejuke joined the former UEFA Europa League champions on a free transfer on Monday.
The 26-year-old signed a three-year contract with the LaLiga outfit.
The Nigeria international was presented the media and fans on Wednesday.

Orta said the player perfectly fits the profile of what manager Quique Sánchez Flores wants in a winger.
“We knew Ejuke since he arrived in Europe and we were surprised by his loan in November. We discovered that he was free, we followed him weekly and we were convinced by his personality and all the information we needed,” Orta told the club’s official website.
“We also spoke with the coach (Quique Sánchez Flores), who gives a lot of importance to the wingers, to speed, etc.; and these are characteristics that Chidera has. He presses well after the loss of a ball as well and we had to move quickly because he was free.”
“Ejuke is very valid for Sevilla due to all his conditions. This year he has made a huge defensive leap. We have spoken with people who have described him very well personally and I think he suits the coach like a glove. He faces, he has speed, dribble, and reach the area.
“I would be excited about a lively team and that is why we want that model of a player like Ejuke.”

Hmmm who have ever heard Nigerian Local Indigenous coach talk like this hahahahahahaha, if you ask our own they will tell you about know when to attack and defend Chineke! lol. They will the proceed to select slow players instead of the likes of Ejuke nawa oo. which shows you Europe is so far ahead that even a Sporting Director talks better than our supposed world class local coaches lol heheheheheee!!
Can you all see how this guy is really stressing on Ejuke’s “defensive” and “recovery skills after losing the ball”? – This is how people who understand what football is and how it should be played think!
Ejuke can in no guise be described as a defender (or can he?) yet those putting their hands in their pockets to fork out and buy him as a forward player mind (a winger)- are here telling you that the biggest reason why they are buying him is because of his improved defensive understanding and ball recovery/tracking back skills even as a forward player o!
Then when we are telling these dumbass Nigerians why we see guys like Iwobi and Iheanacho as not good enough, some mugus will rear their confused, myopic and unintelligent heads to start insulting someone who’s only crime is to understand things better than them and is only trying to help them out with facts.
Mehn, some “Nigerians” are absolutely unbelievable and simply cannot be helped!
Next base ojare!
To think that this guy has been consistently neglected by quack coaches is unbelievable. I read somewhere that lookman position maybe threatened with Ejuke likely invitation. I think this guy can do great things in attacking midfield. He is not coming to drag anybody’s position but to show the stuff he is made of. I can’t wait to see him back to Eagles.
I think the whole essence of a good team is serious competition for places. Besides that, Ejuke can as well operate from the right and in any other attacking midfield role as deemed fit by a competent coach because he has the techniques and the skill set to do that.
More importantly, the team needs to play faster and efforts should be made to get as many fast players like him, Lookman, Simon and the rest of them (that are equally good technically) to be the main fulcrum of the team if not all of them. Who knows if that method should be the best way to turn the fortunes of the team around towards achieving our world cup dream that is fast slipping out fingers?
Lastly, our coaches should endeavour to assemble the best we have at all times despite pressures from all quarters including football association members or their technical heads that may want to twart the effort due to one reason or another that is known only by themselves.
The young man is so good and is now matured or transformed. If only he should just be given the directions and mentored by any serious coach or coaches to be saddled with the Super Eagles job, l believe that guy is so humble and discipline.
Ejuke, best of luck on our new journey at Sevilla fc in Spain. Stay injury free.
I can’t fathom the reason why he was dropped from the SE. He has always added value each time I watched him play. What is it that this guys saw in him that our Coaches couldn’t see? One of it has just been highlighted. Why Taminu from Tanzania why leaving such Player out?
Progress
Ejuke has always been an impressive player, although when given the opportunity to showcase his talent in the Afcon (two editions ago I think) he didn’t really impress but in all of the qualifying games he played, he always did well. Could it have been stage fright or something else.
Anyway, he has matured since then and has improved as well. This signing proves it.
As much as some believe that he can challenge lookman for a spot in the super eagles team, I disagree because lookman is more than just a winger,he is an all round player who can play in all positions in the forward role. I like seeing him play in the support strikers role because that is where you get the best out of him. We saw it at the Nations Cup and Europa league final. But our local coaches will still wantvto use him as a winger which limits his performance.
Anyway, back to Ejuke, happy you signed for a top class team in a top class league. Your performance will speed your return to the super eagles. You can play on the right or left wing if chukwueze or Simon fail to perform. As for me lookman should play off the top striker, with one good winner who can play on either wings. It could be, Simon, chukwueze or Ejuke Take your pick.
Ejuke bobo I’m proud of you, now go dominate la liga, that league suit ur skill sets and style of play, this is a typical type of progress that impressed me, from the Russian league that was disrupted and banned to Bundesliga to Jupiler pro league and now to the almighty La liga and that a top top la liga side Sevilla. This the kinda moves that makes sense men.
