Siasia: I’m Innocent, Will Challenge FIFA’s Decision, Ban At Highest Level

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has reacted to the life ban imposed on him by FIFA, claiming innocence and vowing to challenge the decision at the highest authority.

Siasia told Completesports.com that the ban came to him as a shock because at no time was he interrogated by FIFA or any of his agents regarding a match fixing or bribery as contained in the FIFA statement

“I am innocent of the claims by FIFA, and I will challenge it to the highest level. Nobody told me of any investigation and I don’t have any dealings with Wilson Raj Perumal who was investigated for betting by FIFA as claimed by FIFA.

“This is character assassination and I cannot allow it to just go unchallenged. I must get Justice because I am innocent. I don’t know where this came from, somebody must be out there trying to ruin me but God will vindicate me” Siasia stated

The coach whose mother is still being held by kidnappers in Bayelsa wondered why all these things are happening to him at this time.

“God will see me through,” Siasia enthused.

You’re right for Fifa to target a man who delivers result against the best teams, even with the worst preparation to the last tournament he coached Nigeria which is the Olympic games when the players where stranded in America and only arrived the games on the match day but still beat a well prepared Japanese team and went on to clinch a bronze.

If someone is corrupt it is Fifa who has managed to use VAR, world cup hosting and many more avenues to cheat. Yet they come out to ban one of Africa’s finest coaches who fears no one. Fifa is beginning to show their ugly side soon the world will hear!

  • Can the heartless rogues holding his mother realise now that this guy’s life is in a mess at the moment and release the poor lady unconditionally?

What sort of country is Nigeria? Should our mothers be treated with such contempt?

In sha Allah, God will see you through my lovely coach. Having you in charge of our team will be great with good attacking football Nigeria known for.

I would have preferred Amunike and Siasia but NFF are so bossy, corrupt and Confused. We have so many options. God will stand on your behalf Sia1. God bless Nigeria!!!

There is no smoke without fire

      • Shut up u fool @barney.do u think that everybody is behaving like u South Africa’s.how can they ban someone without hearing from him.

  • So in over a month the nigerian police and Dss can not free his mother? What a Shame?
My brother God will preserve your mother and see you true.
Those baggers holding your mom deserves a death sentense whenever they are apprehended.
And if you are truely innocent, God will vindicate you and you as a US citizen will sue FIFA in America and make some good money for your pains and damages.

  • May God see u through this trying moment of ur life. It’s absurd for you to place a bane on somebody without hearing from the person. FIFA pls call Mr. samson siasia to hear his own side of the story.

The fact is that many things happened in 2009, and Siasia’s case is a pointer. This same Wilson Raj Perumal is said to have fixed the last Worldcup qualifying match between Kenya vs Nigeria on 14Nov. 2009. I believe Fifa are looking for any means to punish Nigeria for that claim by Wilson Raj Perumal about the match that is said to have atom of truth.

Please and please Africans should pay indigenous coaches and referees the way they pay foreigners, so money wouldn’t be the basis of corruption by our coaches and referees

  • I believe they made this statement for those fool’s kidnappers to release his mom.may God punish any idiot that is holding that poor woman

  • From the look of things, Siasia is innocent somehow. FIFA should have given him the opportunity to defend himself after they might have joggled his brain to remind him the match-fixer man himself. It is unfair. Even Almighty God will not judge an accusation like FIFA. He knows o but hevwill still give you your day to defend yourself. Matthew 24:14 attest to this. Until that is done Siasia should not pay any money. Does Siasia look like someone with N18000000+? Even n after everything, he should not pay.

Anything FIFA does nowadays, I view it with suspicion. I don’t trust these guys. Right from the days of Joao Harvelange. Just a bunch of suit-wearing crooks to me. Quite a few of them have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, so to speak. The latest that comes to mind is Jack Warner. The disgraced former FIFA exec was likely ousted for political reasons. Not implying that Warner’s hands are clean. My point is actions taken by FIFA nowadays seem to be more about politics and power, and less about morality and the game itself. Very dubious and suspicious activity going on in the FIFA ranks over the years. And they are a FOOTBALL MONOPOLY, so no competition, and nobody can question them! As mentioned in previous comments, Siasia should be given the opportunity to defend himself. Let Siasia’s case be subjected to due process. And it would be nice for a third party (not FIFA) to adjudicate.

When Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini were found guilty of corruption, where they given life bans? So why is Siasia’s case different? A harsher punishment for an identical crime?
