Simon: Happy To Make My AFCON Finals Debut, Win Bronze

Nigeria and Levante of Spain winger, Moses Simon, says he is happy to help the Super Eagles win bronze medal in his first AFCON finals at Egypt 2019, Completesports.com reports.

The Super Eagles defeated Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 on Wednesday night to pick the tournament’s bronze medal.

However, Simon who made his AFCON finals debut for Nigeria at Egypt 2019 took to the social media to express his delight at playing a part in Super Eagles’ bronze medal feat.

“I’m happy to be part of this team and it was a great experience to play my first AFCON, all thanks to my family, friends, fans and well wishers,” Simon tweeted on his twitter handle, @MSimon_27.

“The result is not what we aimed for, but we thank God for what we have.”

Simon made his Super Eagles debut in 2015 in the friendly match against Cranes of Uganda on March 25 when he came on for Anthony Ujah.

He scored his first national team goal same year, on September 8, against Niger Republic. Eagles won the game 2-0.

Injury stopped him from making the 23-man Super Eagles squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia .
