Simy Guns For 20th Goal Of Season In Crotone Promotion Chase At Livorno

Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo will be gunning for his 20th goal in all competitions this season when Crotone visit Livorno for Friday’s Serie B encounter at the Armando Picchi Stadium, Completesports.com reports.

Crotone are on the brink of securing promotion to the Italian Serie A and a victory of any kind against already relegated Livorno would all but mathematically guarantee that.

The Pythagoreans surely won’t think of slipping up against the league’s whipping boys who have lost their last five games and are now mentally preparing for next season in the third tier.

Crotone’s unbeaten run currently stands at an impressive 11 games and that is not under threat particularly with a prolific striker such as Simy who is in a rich vein of form.

Meanwhile, Simy who saw full action last weekend fired blanks for the first time in four matches when Crotone played out a 1-1 draw with Salernitana at the Stadio Ezio Scida.

The Nigerian attacker scored five times in his previous three league outings before last weekend as he and his club continued to edge closer to promotion to the Serie A.

He has struck the back of the net an impressive 18 times, rendered three assists, but picked up six yellow cards in 34 league appearances for Crotone during the 2019/20 season.

This is also Simy’s most prolific season ever, netting 19 times in 35 games overall for Crotone and logging a total of 2,845 minutes with a goal involvement of every 150 minutes.
