Liverpool’s Callum Smith has revealed he is close to finalising his next fight as he tries to prove he is the best in the world.
The 28-year-old saw his stock rise last year after winning the World Boxing Super Series final in September.
Smith produced a stoppage victory in Saudi Arabia and, in doing so, stripped George Groves of his WBA super-middleweight title.

He has now met with promoter Eddie Hearn to discuss potential opponents, with WBO champion Gilberto Ramirez and IBF title holder Caleb Plant both on his radar.
Big names such as Andre Ward and Gennady Golovkin are also being mentioned and Smith made it clear his fans will know more soon. “I think it will be confirmed within the next couple of weeks,” he told Sky Sports.
“Hopefully that’s the plan, to get something out pretty soon. But I’m back in the gym and enjoying training again, and looking forward to getting back in there.
“I believe I’m the best in the world, and I can beat anyone in the division. Whoever it is, I’m confident that I’ll have the beating of them.”
