Real Sociedad are said to be confident of getting a deal wrapped up for Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal before the transfer window closes.
Sociedad have until close of play on September 2 to get the deal done, and all the noises from the Spanish press suggest the full-back will be heading back to his homeland sooner rather than later.
Monreal has played in all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season but will be out of the side when new signing Kieran Tierney has recovered from injury and will be fit enough to take his place.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery revealed at the weekend there was a chance Monreal could be on the move and Sociedad could land their man in the next 24 hours according to some reports.
Having been born in Pamplona and played for nearby Osasuna, the 33-year-old is keen to retire in Spain and Sociedad have offered him a two-year deal before he opts to hang up his boots.
