Solskjaer Explains Henderson Call-Up reason

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his reasons for wanting Blades target Dean Henderson to link-up with Manchester Utd’s pre-season tour. The 22-year-old, who enjoyed a successful loan stint at Bramall Lane last term, is set to join up with the rest of the Red Devils’ squad in Singapore ahead of Saturday’s friendly with Internazionale.

Solskjaer originally left Henderson out of the tour party so he could enjoy a holiday after the European Under-21 Championships, but he will now become their fifth goalkeeper to fly out. He was told to apply for a Chinese visa amid the possibility of him travelling to Shanghai with United next week and it looks like any return to Bramall Lane will now be further delayed.

“Well, at the moment he’s back in England training,” Solskjaer said. “He had a 10-day break after he trained for us the first week, he needed a break after the Under-21s. “Of course, we’re debating whether he should travel and come with us or stay and train in England.

I thought maybe it was best for him to come here. “David [de Gea] has a temperature and fever that built up today, so didn’t want to risk him getting worse. Hopefully he’ll play against Inter. And Lee’s injured, so we’ve only got two ‘keepers.”
