Solskjaer Waits On Transfer Plans

Uncertainty over participation in next season’s Champions League is reportedly having an impact on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s spending plans. The Manchester United boss is believed to have drawn up a hitlist of four players, which includes bringing in a top quality centre-half and a right-winger during the close season.

However, the Norwegian is still waiting to learn what type of money will be made available to him by the club’s paymasters, with the Red Devils still fighting to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League. United would have to factor in a drop of around £60m if they are dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona next week or fail to qualify through their final domestic standing.

On top of that, bosses at the Theatre of Dreams are already having to budget for hefty contract offers made to goalkeeper David de Gea and striker Marcus Rashford. It’s been rumoured Solskjaer will have around £200m to spend in the coming months but nothing has been agreed upon yet.

United could certainly raise significant funds by selling midfielder Paul Pogba to Real Madrid this summer, although the message continues to be the Frenchman isn’t for sale.
