Solskjaer Weighing Up Four Man United Striker Options Before Ighalo Decision

Solskjaer Weighing Up Four Man United Striker Options Before Ighalo Decision

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is finalising his plans ahead of an important summer transfer window for Manchester United.

The Norwegian will hope the window can act as a catalyst for his rebuild at Old Trafford as he looks to close the gap on rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

To ensure a successful summer, United need to strengthen in several key areas including centre forward.

And according to the Evening Standard, Solskjaer is yet to make a decision over which striker he wants to sign.

Their report claims the United boss is working through a list of ideal striker targets before deciding over Odion Ighalo’s future.

United have yet to offer Ighalo a permanent Old Trafford move, despite a fruitful start to his loan spell for the Nigerian.

Ighalo’s current loan deal expires on May 31 but is expected to be extended until the end of the season after the latest FIFA announcement amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He represents a cut-price option that would perhaps allow Solskjaer to focus his budget on the right-wing and midfield positions.

But he is also assessing other options with longer-term targets Harry Kane, Timo Werner, Moussa Dembele and Erling Haaland all under consideration.

Given the impact the coronavirus pandemic will have on the market, we highly doubt United will pull off a deal to sign Tottenham star Kane.

A move for Erling Haaland also seems extremely unrealistic because of his ties to Mino Raiola and the fact he hasn’t even spent a full season at Borussia Dortmund.

We feel Lyon hitman Dembele is the ideal centre forward for Solskjaer’s attacking setup.

The 23-year-old possesses pace, aerial threat and, crucially, a natural goal scoring ability that could be the focal point of United’s team.

Dembele has scored 16 Ligue 1 goals this season, following up an impressive total of 15 in his first season in France.
