Sorloth Heading For Palace Exit

Alexander Sorloth is reportedly set to escape his Crystal Palace nightmare with a loan move to Gent close to completion.

The Eagles splashed out £9million to sign the Norway international from Danish side FC Midtjylland a year ago but the move has not worked out, Sorloth netting just once in 19 appearances for the Londoners.

With Palace boss Roy Hodgson keen to bring in a new forward during the January transfer window and Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Connor Wickham all ahead of him in the pecking order already, Sorloth is poised to go out on loan to Belgian side Gent.

It is understood the striker has already flown out to Spain to link up with the rest of the Gent squad at their warm weather training camp with a deal to move on loan until the end of the season on the verge of being completed.

Palace are not ready to give up on the 23-year-old just yet and so are not looking for him to leave permanently, believing a loan move could restore his confidence.

Gent boss Jess Thorup worked with Sorloth when he was manager of FC Midtjylland and will hope to replicate the success the pair previously enjoyed with the striker netting 15 times in 26 games under Thorup.
