I give up on supporting this coach Madugu and I agree that diminishing returns has set in his coaching career, perhaps earned too much money and assets from his Wafcon trophy winning just last year.
How do you start a match with 3 or 4 over 30s (Oshoala, Fransisca Ordega, Ohale) at the same time ( not late substitutions)against a southern African team noted for their pace and quick transitions? More annoying is an Ordega who has not played a single minute throughout the tournament before SF crashed out.
What happened to Rinsola Babajide, Gift Monday, Ihezuo or even Omewa?
I think Madugu doesn’t want the job anymore and should resign honourably because the diminishing rate of return is abysmal at this stage.

In fact, they need to start teaching young kids about Gusau and co. in primary and secondary schools. The man is a legend. A legendary failure. When the names of great people are being mentioned in Nigeria’s history, you have to mention the names of these NFF Onigbese chumps.

They kept Madugu because, frankly, they wanted a coach who would be cheap, pliable and easy to control. And here we are, the predictable result.
I simply cannot imagine Randy Waldrum, after the work he put into rebuilding this team, presiding over such a disjointed and woeful Super Falcons performance. The worst I have seen in all my years of following them. He came in, reorganised the squad, introduced new players, gave the team a clear identity, and restored Nigeria’s credibility on the world stage. At the 2023 World Cup, he made the Falcons competitive against the very best.
But the NFF reportedly couldn’t stomach a coach who demanded accountability and asked uncomfortable questions. They didn’t want a coach who would challenge the system; they wanted one who would obey it.
Well, we now have the perfect demonstration of what that choice produces. When you deliberately replace competence with compliance, don’t be shocked when the football collapses.
This one is even worse than pre-Rohr era when we were struggling to qualify for men’s AFCON. At least that time youth and women’s teams were covering up. Right now is terrible!

When exactly have we had it so bad in our football history? When have the Super Falcons ever sunk this low? What exactly are you defending? If we are now making excuses for this shambolic performance, then we have shamefully lowered the benchmark to accommodate mediocrity. This is a new low for Nigerian football: no World Cup for the Super Falcons, just like the Super Eagles; no WAFCON medal, not even a third-place finish; no U-20 men’s AFCON, while the U-17 boys may yet join the no-show shame.The only flicker of hope left is Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles possibly doing something at the senior AFCON, and perhaps qualifying for and doing well at the next U-23 AFCON. But truth be told: are those really guaranteed?
The NFF has practically squeezed the life out of Nigerian football. Take the Super Falcons out of the equation and ask yourself: what exactly is left to celebrate? Our senior men are struggling. Our youth pipeline is wobbling. Our clubs have virtually disappeared from continental relevance. Our age-grade teams now treat qualification for major tournaments like an entrance examination they may or may not pass.
The U-17 and U-20 girls may have qualified for their respective World Cups, but let’s not start planning victory parades because they will go there and mark their usual attendance. We all saw how difficult qualification was, unlike before. If qualifying is already becoming a struggle, what exactly are we expecting when they get there?
So the question nobody should be afraid to ask is simple: Where exactly is Nigerian football headed under Gusau and this NFF?
Because after this catalogue of failures, what more evidence do we need before we stop confusing loyalty with leadership and excuses with accountability?
How much more must Nigerian football lose before we finally admit that something is fundamentally broken?
