Southampton Boss, Hasenhuttl Raves About Aribo

Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, has heaped plaudits on the club’s new signing, Joe Aribo.

The Saints announced the arrival of the versatile midfielder on Saturday night.

Aribo, who penned a four-year contract, linked up with Southampton from Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers.

“Joe is a player with many qualities to his game, and we are very excited to welcome him to the squad in time for the pre-season trip to Austria,”Hasenhuttl told the club’s official website.

“We believe Joe can bring energy and creativity to our side. Feeling comfortable in so many different positions is very helpful for a manager and shows he has a high level of football intelligence, with the ability to take on new information quickly.

“He has played a lot of games already in his career, at a very high level, and his performances in the Europa League prove he has the quality to play in the Premier League. This is a big ambition for him, and he is hungry to show everybody he can do it.”

Aribo joined Rangers in 2019 from Charlton Athletic and helped the Gers captured their first league title in 10 years the following season.

The player also lifted the Scottish Cup, and was a runner-up in last season’s UEFA Europa League in which he scored in the final.

He spent the last three seasons at Ibrox, scoring 26 goals in 149 appearances.

Congrats man, we expect this to be a stepping stone to a champions league club, let’s see what Awoniyi and Aribo will do to the Nigeria brand next season.

    • Na wao …Who said Aribo must move to Liverpool?….We are only trying to stress it that Southampton can be a stepping stone for Aribo to move to a bigger club like Liverpool…… Moreover it’s not only Liverpool that has bought players from Southampton…….Luke shaw, Gareth bale, Walcott, all came from Southampton to Manchester United, Tottenham, and Arsenal respectively……..Abeg allow me celebrate my Aribo because there is no way Aribo will display those his deft finishing in the EPL that a top4 teams will not come for him…….The EPL now is relying more on scoring midfielders to move teams forward……Man City have De bruna…..Man Utd has Bruno……Arsenal have Saka……. Liverpool have Salah……. Tottenham have son……. Chelsea have havartz……The game is shifting from relying on strikers for goals now because strikers have little space this days but midfielders have plenty of space to run into……..Any midfielder who can display a good finishing skill will be highly sort after…… SIMPLE……If my analogy vex you abeg forgive me.

  • this Aribo’s move is the best Nigerian movement in this window so far…… Anyone saying otherwise is just mischievous or a hater disguising as a fan.that been said…….Aribo will Excel In the EPL quickly and I see him moving to Liverpool in one or two seasons from now because Liverpool always take Southampton’s best players regularly of which Aribo will be this coming season…….Aribo’s finishing is becoming legendary and space is all he needs to put in those clinical finishes…….EPL will give him space and time to do his thing and top 4 clubs will come for him In no distant time…….Am so excited to be able to watch my Aribo every weekend now…….This is a dream come true for true SE fans who follow the EPL with passion…..Go Aribo Go Awoniyi…..This season go sweet!

This is a fantastic move. The only thing he will miss are the continental matches, but in lieu of that, he will adequate gain visibility which will bode well for his career in the long run. All he needs to do is to do well. Big teams will come for him. I remember how Livwrppol bought Mane from this club some years ago. We all know the monster of a player that guy has become now. Wising him All the best.

A very good move from Aribo. EPL is a bigger stage. It is a step up in my view. No one watch the Scottish league, is it Aberdeen or Dundee that people will watch but with Southampton, he will be testing himself against some of the best in the world. This Aribo will play against man city, Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea, spurs, Leicester, man United etc. These are top notch opposition that will improve him as a player.

Some will touch on the point that he will miss out on European league but the quality he will face week in week out is top. There are 4 champions league teams, 2 Europa league teams and conference league teams. That is almost half of the EPL league and I am happy he picked a stable team in Southampton. All the best Joe!

Congratulations to Aribo. In fact this is the best movement so far taken by any Nigeria players I can predict that in the next one or two seasons he will find his way to Liverpool. Just like Sadie Mane of Senegal He was relatively unknown when he signed for Southampton. He successfully expressed himself and landed in Liverpool. Wish you goodluck.
