Spanish, German Clubs Track Omeruo

Kenneth Omeruo has sparked interest from Spain and Germany-after becoming the club’s latest loan star.

Omeruo, 25, has been at Leganes in La Liga this season – helping them keep a clean sheet in a win against Real Madrid and impressing against Barcelona.

There is an option to buy the Nigeria international at the end of the season- but rivals and clubs in Bundesliga have also now shown interest according to a report in thesun. co.uk.

Omeruo has never played for Chelsea but has been loaned out to the Championship, Holland and Turkey before heading to Spain this season.

Like ex-Chelsea stars Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, he is likely to move away from Stamford Bridge.

He has played against Lionel Messi at the last two World Cups but has only played in the Championship in England during his loan spells with Middlesbrough.

Omeruo has made 16 league appearances for Leganes this season but his yet to register a goal.

He is expected to be in action when Leganes face Real Sociedad in a LaLiga clash on Saturday.

Omeruo has been sensational since moving to Spain,i’m marvelled by his form so far for club and country.
Meanwhile,on current form Omeruo should form a backline that includes Collins,Ekong and Aina. It’s just as simple as that.Balogun should start getting used to the bench just like he does for his club because if he can’t displace any of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy who are not even considered for bench role in the England team then he’s not worth being a regular for Nigeria.

    • I don’t agree with you. I think James Ozornwafor and Igor Ogbu should now be our starting central defenders…

The wingbacks should be Musa Mohammed and Mike Zaruma. Please forget Ola Aina and the rest…….

      These guys are the future.

haahahahaha……That was how we thought Rabiu Ibrahim was the future back then….not knowing the dude was already at his peak in the youth teams. We are still waiting for that future to materialize

    • @greenturf, Shane Duffy is a current international with Republic of Ireland with 25 cap whilst Lewis Dunk made his debut for England in a friendly against the USA in November last year. He was on the bench for England in their two games against Croatia and the one against Spain in the Uefa nations cup last year October and December. Balogun was signed as backup to them as Shane especially is prone to suspensions. I believe both Balogun and Etebo jumped too quick in signing for clubs before the world cup.

I do agree that Omeruo should be one of the first names on our team sheet as he is our highest rated Super Eagles player in the top five leagues in the world for December and January. I’ll also add Awaziem to that list of defenders as he has found a new lease of life posting man of the match performances and made team of the week in the Turkish premier league since his loan move from Portugal in January.

Oh dear!my bad.Sorry, should have made my research before posting.
Having said that,a regular and world cup defender for a big football country like Nigeria shouldn’t have his place positioned on the bench. If you choose to remain in that position then those who are playing on regular basis should start ahead of you at international football, anything other than that will be seen as bais from the coach.

        • Hahaha, I thought “Duffy is a distinctive Irish name”. And yes, Dunk only broke into the England team after the world cup.

Although England is “a big footballing nation” currently fifth on the FIFA ranking and Republic of Ireland are term places above us.

And true a Nigerian footballer should not be seen as a regular for the country if he’s not playing regularly for his club.

That’s the ethos Rohr has instilled in the squad and I think only two current super Eagles players are not first pick for their clubs: Leon and Moses Simon. Both are being pushed hard for their place in the squad in left wing/wing back and centre back.

Ola Aina is in superb form, Balogun can’t bench dunk or Duffy because he met them there, he will play if they should sell one of those players.Kenneth should just gain confidence when he plays for Nigeria because some times he fumbled

    • That one no follow at all oh. Etebo met players in Stoke but he’s a regular starter so are the following who all changed clubs since Balogun Changed: Mikel, Awaziem, Onyekuru, Ahmed, Kalu, Akpeyi, Aina, Troost, Omeruo, Agu, Osimhen, Awoniyi. All of them met players when they changed clubs, but as they are better than the players they met at their clubs got the starting positions.
If Balogun was better than Duffy or Dunk he would be starting for Brighton
