Very good. Lets hope that he will have a good game.

  • Very nice defender with pace and passing skills….I just hope Rhor will give him game time let’s see what he has to offer.

@Samuel,on point. After 21minutes highlight I can conclude that this guy should play at the top.Whoooo, a combination of Uche Okexhukwu and Lucas Radebe. He’s smart with the ball, fast, intelligent, fantastic passer of the ball, close control and above all great technician.

I hope he gets lucky to take it from here.

This is a good development. It just shows that players can be invited within a week and hit camp contrary to popular beliefs. This also shows that if you don’t try, u never know what the outcome will be. If NFF and GR had gone with the popular belief that sending invitation to a player few days b4 a match that clubs won’t release the player, this guy would have missed out on this big opportunity. I believe even for the Mexico game, the NFF & GR should send invitations to as many players as possible and let their clubs be the ones to either accept or decline, except the NFF and GR just want to use that match to expose the CHAN team and give them valuable experience. The likes of Moffi, Olayinka, Nwobodo, Iwuala, Marcus, Ozonwafor, and other fringe players should be send invitations and let their clubs either accept or decline the invitation. Assuming a club won’t release a player bcos its preseason or not a FIFA free window or in a short period of time is inaccurate. Send the invites as many players as possible and let tge clubs decide whether to release them or not. Definitely some clubs will not release some players for various reasons why others might also release players. Let’s refrain from making blankets statements like “clubs won’t release players bcos its preseason or not fifa free period etc” without 1st sending the invitations to the clubs that these players play for. Like the saying goes “if u no risk u no go venture”.Just a thought.

@Proudly9ja… In other words what some folks have been telling us here that it is not possible to invite any player(s) based in Europe on short notice is just slices of rotten onions… Lol. Clubs are in football these days mostly for the money… some clubs are known as “nurseries” or “selling” clubs… they groom unheralded players to cashout once they breakout and these ones are often very happy when their players get called up for nationals because they in-turn get the needed platform to show off at a global stage… It will have been nice had we had Nwakali in Camp for this double Cameroun header… Wishing Super Eagles a good game…

Hahahaha…@Na me Talk, in their naïve minds the letter of invitation to this guy was just sent to his club on Monday…..LMAO. I really wished that was how things work….LMAO. Wherever they read that from beats imagination.
Just a simple track of timeline of events should reveal to any critical thinker that the national team management already knew the team was gonna be short of defenders since last week and hence must have reacted to that eventuality as at then, the results of which have manifested yesterday, aided by the fact that Anthony wouldn’t have needed extensive travel protocols (especially now the COVID-19 is making international travels even more difficult) to make it to Austria as a bus ride from Bratislava to Vienna was only about an hour plus.

Moreover, what does it profit a coach to just send blanket invitations to a hundred players and start waiting arms akimbo for who would get released and who wouldnt get released even when it is a given that chances of getting released are remote given the circumstances. The same mistakes our U23 coaches have been making since 2012 culminating in our not always being able to raise a good team for the Olympic qualifiers. Siasia was wise enough to just assemble a home-based team and start preparing with them ahead of time and we all saw the outcome.
Would it not be wiser for the coach to just go with his plans of assembling a home-based squad and camping them together before going to face Mexico rather than scavenging for players who will all most likely be meeting each other for the first time ever in the US and then facing Mexico after 2 or 3 training sessions….?

Its even more shocking that this suggestion is coming from the same set of people who have told us the homebased are as good as (if not better than) the foreign based, and that Rohr is just a desperate panicky timid coach always depending on foreign based players….LMAO. Now they are the same confused gang advising him to adopt a panic-ridden approach of just throwing invitation letters in the air and HOPING someone somewhere grabs it…..LMAO. Pls what managerial sense does that make…? LMAO. Like seriously….LMAO

We’ve tried that approach many times and we always end up with eggs on our faces, getting only players who are not valued by their clubs released and other wannbees who wan sell market. We take them to tournaments and it all ends in disaster. Most times after begging and pleading and hoping in vain for their clubd to release them we now revert to impromptu call ups for home-based players to plug the gap, in
our typical fire-brigade approach to solving problems. The ones that are truly outstanding and valued by their clubs never get released on Non-FIFA windows, its been like that for ages. Why let thunder continue to strike multiple times in the same place.

The coach has weighed his options and concluded that it will serve a better long term good assembling home-based players and leading them to face mexico, knowing fully well that CHAN qualifiers will begin soon, rather than the planless planelessness of scavenging for players who have never met in their lives in Europe and leading them to face mexico after 2 training sessions as if it were to be some jeun jeun trial football match…LMAO….most of whom wll most likely not get to be part of the WCQ party when the qualifiers resume (all things being equal).

We are confident facing Cameroon tomorrow because a bulk of the players in camp have been together for a while, Imagine if all we had in camp as at yesterday were a bunch of players we needed to go watch youtube videos to know who they were….LMAO

People who know coaching and football management more than the coach should allow him do his job. When he fails and gets sacked, they can apply for the vacant position. He is not as dumb and senile as they think he is. We know all these noise is not really in the interest of the nation…its all about personal interests, just to seem someone’s favored players wear the SE jersey. They should calm down…nothing beats hardwork, their favored players will still wear the SE jersey if they put in the hardwork, not by some backdoor arrangement…LMAO

What I saw on Youtube looks nice. RUGGED ELEGANCE.
A combo of Okechukwu and Keshi.
Very comfortable with the ball. In fact, his only weakness comes from this, ironically. He tends to hold on to the ball too long in his vital area. And also tends to over dribble. This comes from skill and confidence. He should tone that down, because at the highest level, strikers can surprise him and one mistake can spoil a good thing.
Aside that, everything else I saw on Youtube makes me think Rohr has made a great selection here. Hope to see him get a run out against Cameroon.

    • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

Personally, I am a fan of 9ja football (age grade, women and men teams) and can care less who gets invited to the national teams, the only benefit and joy i get is seeing 9ja national teams do well in any match or competition they participate it. I will always support the coach’s choice as its his prerogative who he thinks are best suited for his plans. However, since this is a forum to learn and share ideas on how to move our teams forward I will make suggestions if to me it makes sense. Secondly, I have supported GR even when others have asked for him to be fired in the past, so I have zero to gain from his firing. I have called Amuneke out for angling for GR position in the past. I have also called GR out when he erred as a Nigerian.

Guys as you all know nothing is 100% certain in soccer, favorite teams have been beating by less fancied teams. Some people say certain things here with 100% certainty as if they already know the outcome, nothing is certain. @Drey u have a good football mind so do many forumites here, I had written in an earlier article here that i didn’t think professional players like Osimhen, Aina, Ebuehi, Simy ( even tho I later said his and Onyeka’s withdrawal, may be linked to possible transfer) must have communicated their withdrawal from the games against cameroon way in advance not a few days to the games to allow the coach make alternate plans (obviously paraphrasing here). So i don’t think the invitation to Izuchukwu was done recently, but it could have, there is no way fir us to know with 100% certainty as nobody here can attest to the fact that they were there when the invitation letter was sent other than GR and NFF.

Maybe bcos I said invite as many players as possible, you misinterpreted what I meant, GR for the past 5yrs has used a lot of players, so he has a large pool of players to select from. The likes of Ejuke, Agu Dessers, Onyekuru, Alhassan, Idowu even Nwakali (tho i am not a huge fan) just to mention a few, these guys aren’t new to the SE are they? Fringe players like Shehu, Awazuem, Simon, Iwuala, Sadiq, Omeruo, Moffi, Marcus, Onyeka (not a fan either), Ozonwafor, Tijani etc these guys will jump at the opportunity to increase the number of caps for tge national team and thereby increase dia market value. If you are a started for your club like Ejuke, Moffi, Simon, Onyeka, Marcus just to mention a few, these players can ask permission from theirs club to let them go represent their country and I doubt many clubs will refuse that kind of request especially when the season hasn’t commenced. Many players have done this and heaven hasn’t fallen. If you are good, you will definitely regain your spit on the team when tge season starts.

The reason I even mentioned inviting some foreign players to augment the local ones is bcos some people think Mexico will whitewash our local team with goals. I am in no way against what GR is trying to do with the local team as it will definitely help in developing the CHAN team and i was one of those who said he should be in charge if the CHAN team rather than assigning that task to Yobo or any local coach since the best way to continuity in playing philosophy is to have tgesane coach coaching tge foreign based players to coach the locally based SE as well. But is the game against Mexico in preparation for the WC qualifier or CHAN? I may be wrong ooo but I think seeing that tge WC qualifier is earlier than the CHAN, that match was meant for preparing the SE for the WC qualifier. Ok let’s assume that the Mexico game is it for CHAN preparation, @Drey my broda, u had suggested that in the Frontline (iwuala, Marcus, Moffi and Olayinka) I mentioned in a different article, that due to unfamiliarity of these guys they won’t have any shots on goal for 60 mins, going by the same line of thought that means the 18 local players plus the 6 based in the US won’t even get a touch of tge ball then since they themselves haven’t played with each other. We might as well cancel the Mexico match then. To me at the present time, our main focus is the WC qualifier, an unearthing talents that can improve the team should be our #1 priority. You yourself have called the local players not good enough, you have said that numerous times here, are they now good enough to face a quality side like Mexico bcos GR invited them? My broda nothing is 100% certain, they (local players) could go and beat Mexico even though the probability is low but there is a chance. Sane way the Frontline of Iwuala, Marcus, Moffi and Olayinka can outscore the Indominable lions of cameroon. Its not a certainty that Mexico will beat 9ja, anything can happen in soccer as u well know. I commend GR for wanting to persecute the Mexico match with homebased players especially if its for preparation for CHAN and to unearth some good local players that can improve the SE but the argument that due to the fact that its not a FIFA window or preseason would have started etc doesn’t really fly. All I am saying is let the clubs be the ones to decide on whether they want to release a player or not instead of us assuming they won’t. Also if GR is really keen on developing a formidable CHAN team he should have started long ago. Many people who work an expats, know that they often stay in the country they are working for the majority of the time (fir example 3 months on 1 month off or 6 months on 2 months off depending on the contract rotation), they (expats) spend money in the economy of the country they work in . I know the argument would be “how invest when u are being owed your salary” which is very correct. However, GR can do more by staying in 9ja to watch games being played by the local teams to know which players will fit into his playing philosophy. What if 9ja was a small country without lots of foreign players, won’t the coach reside in tge country to scout players for himself. I know is not entirely GR fault, as there are issues in 9ja that makes it impossible (security issue is 1), the NFF can also be better too. Again I am one of GR biggest fans as he has brought stability to the SE but he can do better. I doubt if as soon as the league started, he was gradually monitoring and assembling local players, most forumites won’t be too apprehensive when he and NFF said the Mexico game will be prosecuted by mainly homebased players. sorry for the long epistle. My humble opinion

    • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

sorry @Pompei, this was not a reply to your post ooo, it was meant as a response to the post I made earlier. Sorry bro that it can on your well articulated post.

  • The boy has an almost telepathic awareness of where his teammates are whenever he makes a clearance!!! Cool, calm and collected on the ball…. Hmmm, naija get talents o… Hopefully we see him play some minutes against Cameroon…. Can’t wait to see how all the new boys perform!

  • I already said it that Nigeria has A lot of talented players out there. Some of the best players have not been discovered yet because they are playing in modest leagues and clubs. Hopefully this new guy can show the coach something special and become a good addition to the defensive unit of the team and from there he could be on his way to a bigger and better league and club. There are other players who could help boost our midfield. I dont mean those who are rumored to be switching over to Nigeria, but those who are already Full fledged Nigerians and who aren’t noticed because of where they play. Players like nwobodo obinna, yusuf alhassan. These players should be given a chance, lets see if they add something to the team.

good news for the eagles. the guy is good and composed but I am yet to see his defensive qualities, like, monkey yansh sweeping and interceptions, like general balogun does with closed eye’s, or the aerial deffence of trustees ekong. nevertheless we still have to watch him more, to know where he belongs.

@NA ME TALK AM… Go and learn English well. Your comprehension abilities are impaired. You clearly don’t understand what it means to say someone is not keen on some persons… That submission was in reference to Ejaria and Lookman, despite those two being more willing to ride the Super Eagles train… Our gaffer continues to talk openly about his admiration for Eberechi Eze… despite knowing the dude has positioned himself for England even though if it will be playing for Junior Three Lions like U-21 till he turns 25yrs, our coach knows this but continues to court Eze specifically openly, meanwhile you have a more proven player in Ejaria who is not in anyway inferior to Eze, infact when Ejaria made U-20 for England and won that world cup with the likes of Sheyi Ojo, Dom Solanke and Lookman in 2017 U-20 WC, Eze was nowhere in English football circles… Ejaria came close to breaking into Liverpool senior squad but he was not tolerated and allow to come into his element like was done for the likes of Fodin and Mason, and we know why. Why would a coach have a Lookman, and Ejaria and still be talking of an unwilling and unyielding Eberechi Eze in the manner that Rohr has done even up till recently? I never heard or read anywhere that the gaffer has so eulogized Lookman or Ejaria… or are we saying those two are inferior to Eze? Eze is not even better than Kelechi Nwakali… it’s just the English developmental platform they have had that give them edge to be noticed and helped up quickly. This was my angle for saying Rohr does not seem keen on Ejaria or Lookman… Who is talking about FIFA or UK associations allowing them switch or not here… guy go back to school and improve your analytics! You want my attention but you won’t get more than this… go and get busy rather than rummaging all CSN archives for posts your wits can’t clearly properly analyze before you use them to expose how slow your faculty really is… Save yourself further embarrassment Mr. PAPERWEIGHT!

Where were you when our coach was also openly courting Lookman and Ejaria before they finally accepted to switch and commence their official international switch process…? The fact that you never read or heard about something doesn’t mean it never happened. The onus is on you to first do your background searches before coming in public to cast aspersions.

If Lookman and Ejaria have been courted extensively enough to commence their switch isnt it logical to move over to the next person since those 2 are already in the bag…?!

its becoming rather irresponsible for people to just sit in the comfort on their parlours and cast aspertions without even doing proper background check or finding out what has been going on back stage. Man, always learn to speak from a position of verifiable authority, not from the figment of your imagination.
