The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh extends warm congratulations to Nigeria’s Senior Women’s National Team, the Super Falcons on their successful qualification for the African Women’s Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco, next year.
Senator Enoh said the Super Falcons displayed an impressive level of determination and teamwork, securing vital victories during the qualifiers to solidify their place in the prestigious African Women’s Cup of Nations.
He lauded the Super Falcons for their remarkable effort in showcasing the nation’s prowess on the continental stage.

As the Super Falcons continue to demonstrate exceptional skill and resilience, Senator John Owan Enoh reaffirmed the government’s steadfast support for women’s football.
In their last hurdle, the Super Falcons edged Cape Verde 2-1 in Praia, to claim a 7-1 aggregate win and confirm their ticket for Morocco 2024. The Madugu-led team came from behind through goals from Esther Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade to pick the win.
Nigeria is the most successful team in the tournament, winning 9 out 13 editions of the biennial championship.

OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIA MINISTER OF SPORTS.
Dear Minister,
You will recall sir, that the Super Falcons Coach Mr.Waldrum had some camps and played friendlies here and there. The friendlies were not impressive but we could attest to how it helped the team at the World Cup, where they played like Amazons.
After the World Cup, there is uncertainty about the coach, coupled with the shabby treatment he got before the World Cup. I think sir, you could speak to Mr.Waldrum and assure him that nothing of such will ever rear its ugly head again in our football. He should be allowed to take these girls to the Nations Cup where they were badly phased out by officials the last time, to show them what our girls can do. He has to start now, don’t forget, he has a steady job at Pitt University so that he can fashion out how to go about the challenges. He took Deborah Abiodun to Pitt University, I stand to be corrected on this and we all can see for ourselves, how quickly she is becoming a force in our team. And there will be more opportunities for our young girls to get a free education while playing football with him as Nigeria’s women’s national team coach. Please mandate Nff to do the needful and ratify his contract immediately.
