The Spanish Soccer Player Association (SSPA) has condemned the decision of Huesca to terminate the contract of Super Eagles midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali.
This was contain in a statement issued by the association via their official website, where they threatened legal action against the Spanish club.
“After communicating the Huesca Sports Society this past Tuesday, April 5 the end of the contractual relationship that it had with the soccer player Kelechi Nwakali, the Spanish Soccer Players Association want to state the following.
“SD Huesca notified the player that a disciplinary file was being opened on February 4,2022 due to events that have led to the club’s unilateral decision to fire the player.
“Since the enormous defenseless that this situation was causing in the affected person became known,he made himself available to Kelechi Nwakali and defending his legitimate interests.”
Recall that on Wednesday, the Nigerian international took to his official twitter handle to accuse his club of termination his contract on the ground that he represented the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
It comes with huge regret that I am writing this message after SD Huesca announced the termination of my contract.
“I have kept silent out of respect for Huesca fans and my teammates, but I will no longer suffer in silence.
“Ruben Garcia put on me not to go to AFCON due to it ‘not being an important tournament.
“He told me if I go to AFCON,I will not play for Huesca again.
“For months the club has been abusing it’s power to bully me into signing a new contract,” Kelechi’s Tweet read in part.

Nwakali is very very ungrateful. A team that made him. He should take his career very very serious. Talent alone will not take him there.
A Spanish team cannot ask a Spanish national to not accept an invitation from any of the Spanish national team,a division 2 team disregard and disrespect to Nigeria is baffling and should be repudiated by all. Good the Spanish soccer union is there to help him . If he goes to court of arbitration , he sure will win this matter . Am sure very soon Huesca will apologize and reinstate his contact.
