Staveley Still Hoping To Buy Newcastle

Amanda Staveley has revealed her UAE-based firm PCP Capital Partners remains interested in buying Newcastle United. The two parties held talks in 2017 but no deal could be agreed between Staveley and Magpies owner Mike Ashley.

An offer of over £300million was reportedly made at the time but Ashley remains in charge at St James’ Park, much to the disgust of some supporters.

Staveley insists she has no problems with Ashley and she has confirmed she is still interested in buying a Premier League club, including Newcastle. “We are big fans of Newcastle, big fans of the team,” she told UAE paper the National.

“We have no issue with Mr Ashley, that is water under the bridge. It’s still an interesting club to us, the fans are fantastic, but we are looking at a lot of clubs.

“I’m a total tomboy, I’m a football fan, I enjoy it very much. We are sensible people who invest other people’s money. We would also put our own capital in – of course we would. But with financial fair play rules, all football clubs have to be financially stable.”
