West Bromich Albion, who will play in the Premier League next season following their promotion from the Championship- have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
Mikel was recently linked with a move to Braziian clubs Botafogo and Internacional.
A vastly experienced player with more than 350 appearances for Chelsea, he won multiple titles during his time with the Blues.
The former Super Eagles captain had a spell in China, before returning to sign for Middlesbrough in a short-term deal in 2019.
