Former Barcelona star Luis Suarez and his wife, Sofia Balbi, became instant heroes after they rescued a man from committing suicide in Ciudad de la Costa, Uruguay, during their vacation.
According to Marca, the event unfolded on the afternoon of Saturday, January 4, when a 49-year-old man climbed a six-meter tree and threatened to take his own life if his partner did not appear at the scene.

The situation quickly prompted the intervention of the Guardia Republicana and drew the attention of local residents, including Suárez, who didn’t hesitate to step in and help.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the former Barcelona and Uruguay national team player used his empathy and leadership skills to engage in conversation with the man.
According to Andrea, a member of an NGO present at the operation, “Luis approached in a very humane and empathetic manner, managing to establish a dialogue that helped de-escalate the situation.”
