A Nigerian striker Paul Julius has tragically died in a traffic collision in Protaras in Cyprus on Tuesday morning.
The 20-year-old was teammate with Super Eagles goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye at side Enosis Neon Paralimni.
According to Philenews.com, Police said Julius was driving on the Paralimni-Protaras road when his car collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction around 6:30 a.m., near Pernera.
The 74-year-old driver of the other car is being treated in hospital but is not in a critical condition.
The club expressed its deep sorrow at the unexpected loss of the young player, describing him as determined and steadfast despite challenges to join the team.
Meanwhile, Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which is being investigated by the Famagusta Traffic Department.
During his time in Egypt, Julius represented El-Gaish in 34 games across a one-and-a-half season.
His last appearance for El-Gaish came in May against Baladiyat El-Mahalla, where he assisted the winner.
