Super Eagles Must Avenge Defeat Against Cameroon -Unuanel

Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel has called on the Super Eagles players to avoid another defeat against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in today’s international friendly game at the Weiner Neustadt stadium.

A first-half goal from Andre-Frank Anguissa earned Cameroon a 1-0 win on that occasion, leaving the Indomitable Lions motivated to record successive victories over their African rivals.

Friday’s defeat was Rohr’s first loss to Cameroon in four matches. The Eagles pounded the Lions 4-0 in Uyo and were held 1-1 in Yaounde in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in September 2017, and then edged the Lions 3-2 in the Round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt two years ago.

Ahead of today’s game, Unuanel in a chat with Completesports.com, noted that the team must step up their game against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

“I was too pleased with the performance of the Super Eagles players against Cameroon in their 1-0 loss last week Friday. I expected much from them going by their impressive performance in the just-concluded season in Europe.

“I hope the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, and players will avenge the defeat by overcoming Cameroon today. I expect nothing but a convincing performance from the Super Eagles.”
