Former Nigeria international Samson Siasia says the Super Eagles would have been embarrassed at the just concluded 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after losing to eternal rivals Black Stars of Ghana in the playoffs in March this year.
However, the Black Stars crashed out in the group stage after winning one and losing two games.
Cameroon and Tunisia also crashed out in the group stage but recorded victories against Brazil and France respectively.
AFCON champions Senegal and Morocco were the only African teams who progressed into the round of 16 with the latter making history as the first African country to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
And speaking after the conclusion of the World Cup, Siasia dismissed talks that the Eagles would have done well.
“We would have been embarrassed out of the World Cup with shocking score lines,” Siasia was qouted on Football Live.

“The Super Eagles have no business going to the world cup and losing out to the Ghana team we played against is enough proof.”
Siasia was appointed Eagles coach in 2010 but was fired in 2011 after failing to lead the team to the 2012 AFCON.
In 2016 Siasia returned as Eagles coach on a temporary spell after the resignation of former teammate Sunday Oliseh but once again failed to pick the 2017 AFCON ticket.
The 55-year-old helped Nigeria win the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia and was a member of the the side that featured at the World Cup the same year.

I think you need an examination of your head. The ghana team lost narrowly to Portugal, won against South Korea and lost to Uruguay. As much as I feel we could’ve have done better and very disappointed, I think this ghana team is not the worst performing nation at a world cup tournament especially considering the fact we were ranked the worst by the fifa ranking. This ghana team was the youngest in the tournament and most of these players can have at least 10 yrs of international football. Can you say same about your super eagles. His life ban was reduced to 5 years ban and if I’m not mistaken, it is going to end in August of 2023.

We lost a ticket to a team in the level of Wales, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar at the World Cup? Then we surely have no business there.

The reality is “Super Eagles ain’t good enough” the truth is “we don’t know why” coz everything ’bout the SE and NFF (both good or bad) seems speculative, similar to the Nigerian Government.its all shrouded in uncertainty,let’s hope it doesn’t get any worse than it is.

Finally , an ex international that speaks the truth. It is the wickedness and ineptitude of the NFF that impacted this coach. No wonder his team’s played well for Nigeria. It is on record that they frustrated him and refused to give him funds for his teams. The Olympic team is a good example. It took mikel obi and a foreign sponsor to bail the team.

I disagree with you Mr siasia it is true that before the World cup kick off argentina was among the favorite to Lift the World cup but after losing to saudi Arabie not much people beleive they can lift this cup IAM sure even you Mr siasia,so that shows that anything can happen in football, beleive me there is talent in this team ; if Ndidi can return to his form all we now need is two World class center defenders, a good Keeper, good coach And good football administration. Morroco reach semi because of good défence, Keeper and a good coach and also maturity of there players.
