Tokyo 2020 Olympics Qualifier: Super Falcons Secure Slim Win Against Algeria, Zoom Into Next Round

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are through to the third round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games following a slim 1-0 win against Algeria at the Agege Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday, reports Completesports.com.

The Nigerian Ladies edged the contest 3-0 on aggregate having won the first leg 2-0 in Bilda last week.

Captain of the team, Asisat Oshoala scored the decisive goal a minute before the hour mark.

The Super Falcons were in ascendancy all through the first half but failed to create any clear cut chances.

Francisca Ordega missed a glorious chance to make the scoreline more emphatic 10 minutes from time but she headed straight at the Algerian goalkeeper from close range.

The Algerians mounted pressure on the Super Falcons late in the game but were unable to get the equalising goal.

Nigeria will face either Mali or Cote d’l voire in the next round.
