Swansea Fans Print Image Of Emiliano Sala Boarding Pass Ahead Of Cardiff Derby

Swansea City have condemned a “disgraceful image” on social media mocking the death of Cardiff striker Emiliano Sala.

Ahead of Swansea’s derby against Cardiff City on Sunday at Liberty Stadium, some fans have printed and shared on Social Media a fake boarding pass with late Sala’s name on it. On the vile boarding pass has Nantes as the departure city and Cardiff as the destination while the flight number is ‘D3AD’,  Swansea City Airlines is clearly inscribed at the top alongside the club’s crest.

The pass also features as captain a Cardiff fan, Mikey Dye was was murdered at an England match against Wales in 2011.

The club has condemned and disassociated itself from the act in an official statement.
‘Swansea City is aware of the disgraceful image currently circulating on social media ahead of Sunday’s South Wales derby in relation to the sad death of Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala.

‘We are working closely with South Wales Police who will be conducting an investigation to identify the initial source.

‘The image is shameful and does not represent this football club or our supporters in any way.

‘We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any discriminatory, unacceptable or anti-social behaviour, and this will be enforced rigorously before, during and after Sunday’s South Wales derby.

‘Any supporters displaying this type of material or behaving in an unacceptable manner will face criminal proceedings.

‘The club will be strongly supporting South Wales Police in any public order or hate crime prosecutions surrounding these images and any related incidents during
Sunday’s fixture at the Liberty Stadium.’

The creator of the boarding pass is not yet known.

Argentine Sala died in January aged 28 when the plane he was travelling in crashed in the English Channel en route Cardiff. His body was later recovered from the wreckage of the crashed plane.
