Tella Expresses Desire To Represent Nigeria

Southampton midfielder, Nathan Tella has expressed his utmost desire to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria in major competition.

The 22-year-old in an interview with HampshireLive, confessed that it would be a ‘dream’ to wear the famous green and white colours of Nigeria.

Tella also insisted that he has been keeping tabs on the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon because of Nigeria and his Southampton teammate Moussa Djenepo, who plays for Mali.

“I would love to play international football,” Tella told HampshireLive.

“That is always been a dream of mine. If I went away with Nigeria, it would be something new and new experiences bring out the best in players. When I look at Che [Adams], I see that he has come back from Scotland as a more mature player. There is no reason why I can’t do that; come back a more mature person.

“Whatever happens in the future, I am just focused on being here and, yes, trying to score goals and help the team win and progress. I am always keeping an eye on AFCON. I am Nigerian, so I always want to focus and watch the games.

“Obviously, when I have any of my teammates (Moussa Djenepo, Mali) out there, I really want to know how they do. I am happy he won yesterday, despite the ending, but it was good that he was able to win, and I wish him all the best.”

Nigeria is now a beautiful bride and everyone want to identify with us. Good to know you are interested but your performances in your club will determine if you can make it to super eagle.

You are welcome into the family…

The best way to convince these foreign born players is to have a team they would all be proud to associate with! No player wants to join a sinking team. I expect more of this king of flirting in days ahead. I also pray we win the cup.

  • You are very welcome Nathan. Just work hard and do your best at Southampton in the premiership and you will have a great chance of playing for Nigeria”s Super Eagles. Regards

Of course foreign born players will now be asking and begging to join the super eagles due to the way they play now and not the other way round where amaju and co will be begging average players up and down

Yes, Amaju has lost virtually all the love that could be when he first took over. However, ‘begging average players up and down’ is part of why we’re where we are today. Super Eagles have a healthy competition in the team now and every upcoming Nigerian player in the diaspora like Fella wants to join the moving train. For this, he doesn’t deserve that insult from you. My personal opinion!

That is what it is. Every boy wants to take the most girl to the prom.
