Chelsea legend John Terry has disclosed that the club decided to sign Liam Delap ahead of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen due to the management’s age policy.
Recall that Delap will be undergoing a medical on Monday after agreeing to a contract with the London club on Friday.

Although Chelsea have shown keen interest in signing the Nigerian international, Terry, in a chat with TalkSPORTS, stated that the club’s policy of not signing players above 29-30 years have played a big factor.
“If you are looking at the next step, you need someone proven and who has scored goals in the Premier League,” he added.
“Usually that’s an experienced player, but the owners are clear — they don’t want to bring in someone of 29 or 30 years of age on big money. It’s a different model. I personally feel we need that.”

Osimhen is still a young and talented player, and he is consistent in scoring abilities, age should not be a barrier.
