TP Mazembe Sign Nigerian Goalkeeper Shaibu

DR Congo top club TP Mazembe have signed Nigerian goalkeeper Suleman Shaibu.

Mazembe announced Shaibu’s signing on Thursday in a statement released on their official website.

The 19-year-old joined the former CAF Champions League winners from Nigerian club Prince Kazeem Eletu FC on a five-year deal.

He was signed alongside Congolese goalkeeper Baggio Siadi Ngusa on the same contract duration.

The unveiling of the two goalkeepers was done by the club’s General Manager, Frédéric Kitengie.

The club expressed confidence that the signing of Siadi and Shaibu will bring competition to the goalkeeping position.

Hmmm….with the rate at which grassroots/academy players hit jackpots with good clubs outside the country, compared to the “MANY TALENTS” in the NPFL who mostly struggle to even pass trials, even in Sudan, would it not suffice to say the national team handlers from U17 to CHAN should rather build their teams around the former rather than those ones who do not even know where to position themselves on the pitch…?
For a massive club like TP Mazembe to sign this boy to a such a long term deal….he must be damn good. And is this not the kid who was called up to the home based camp last month at the behest of G.Rohr…?!

Something is very wrong with our local league. Football administrators and club managers need to look critically at the root of the problems.

This is what we’ve been saying here. It’s too glaring that the NPFL is practically non-existent.

Of all goal keepers in the NPFL, TP Mazembe didn’t see or give any of them a look in, but an academy product yet to cut his teeth in professional football. That speaks volume if you ask me.

Interestingly the young lad was recommended to TP Mazembe by Genert Rohr, lobatan. Someone here sometime ago accused Rohr of not doing anything to develop our local players, especially in the goal keeping department. But Rohr capped an unknown Uzoho against mighty Argentina, capped an unknown Okoye against mighty Brazil and both guys are growing in confidence at a good pace. We can be sure that if Shuaibu fights his way to being the first choice in TP Mazembe’s goal keeping department , he will surely be capped by Rohr and may be on his way to AFCON or Qatar.

Whether his critics agree or not, Rohr is working and he’s producing results.

This is what we’re saying. Professionalism. Five year deal for the young lad and the whole world is aware. Not suddenly coming up with a $1m valuation for an Iwuala whose contract details are unknown (that’s if he has a contract at all) because Rohr was forced to invite home based players.
