Triumph and Unity Mark the Closing Ceremony of AmuwoGames 2023

The curtains fell on the month-long celebration of athleticism and community spirit at the AmuwoGames 2023 Closing Ceremony, where Founder Oluwaseun Ayeni delivered a stirring speech, reflecting on the event’s impact and legacy.

The ceremony featured the presence of distinguished sponsors, each contributing to the success of various tournaments.

Tech1M, a key sponsor, presented a substantial 50,000 Naira prize to each of the three categories in the Chess Tournament.

Nirvana Water, demonstrating their commitment to fitness, awarded medals to the winners of the Walkathon and Cycling events, and also presented medals to the victorious 5-aside soccer team on behalf of sister brand Smoov Chapman.

A significant highlight came from Lanre Shittu Motors, which generously awarded 100,000 Naira to each gold medalist in the Scrabble Tournament, while offering consolation prizes of 30,000 Naira and 20,000 Naira to the second and third-place winners, respectively.

Mile 2 Lion the defending champions won the match 2-1 at Amuwo Games 2023.

The Golden Penny Volleyball Tournament witnessed thrilling action, culminating in the presentation of prestigious prizes and medals to the victorious teams, further highlighting the commitment of sponsors to recognizing excellence in sports.

Honorable Stella Osafile, House of Assembly Representative of Amuwo-Odofin 1 constituency, and Honorable Olulade Bethel Omoniyi, councillor of Ward B where the closing ceremony unfolded, delivered impactful speeches emphasizing the importance of community engagement through sports.

The event also saw the presence of Pastor Oluwaseyi Adegoke-Adeyemo, publisher of Inside Watch Africa, and renowned celebrities Lafup and Indomix, who added a touch of glamour to the occasion.

In the final football match, the defending champions, Mile 2 Lions, triumphed over Festac Bulls with a scoreline of 2-1, clinching victory on the overall medals table with 5 Golds, 4 Silvers, and 2 Bronzes.

The Mile 2 Hawks closely followed with 5 Golds and 4 Silvers. Festac Bulls secured the third spot with 4 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 3 Bronzes, while GRA Rhinos, the second-place finishers in 2021, concluded this year with 1 Gold, 3 Silvers, and 5 Bronzes.
