Troost-Ekong, Collins Out Of Super Eagles Second Friendly Vs Cameroon

William Troost-Ekong and Jamilu Coliins have been ruled out Tuesday’s friendly against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, reports Completesports.com.

The duo picked up injuries against same opponent on Friday and will play no part in the next game at the Stadion Weiner Neustadt.

Troost-Ekong was replaced by Valentine Ozorwanfor late in the game after picking up an injury, while Collins stayed on for the entire duration of the game.

“It’s a difficult situation to have a defence (for the second game),” admitted the Eagles coach.

“We may now have to change the system and play with three defenders.”

Only four defenders; Chidozie Awaziem, Shehu Abdullahi, Anthony Izuchukwu and Ozorwanfor are available for the game.

The Indomitable Lions defeated the Super Eagles 1-0 in the first friendly on Friday night.

        Attention….. Attention…..Attention

Someone is using my name to make comments. I’m just seeing that now.

Why almost everything is fake in this country?

CSN, please do something about this.

We saw fake Dr.Drey on this forum not quite long and now fake omo9ja?

If cares is not taken, we are going to see fake CSN soon.

however, about Tuesday match, Super Eagles have to win on Tuesday against Cameroon otherwise, NFF may fire Oga Rohr this month June or against Mexico because, Mexico is more tactically sound than Cameroon and for Super Eagles playing like that in yesterday match, Mexico won’t take it easy with Eagles.

Nigerians are very angry at the moment.

That Tuesday and Mexico match will determine Oga Rohr fate.

I still don’t understand why our reserve bench is not strong as well as our first 11 when we have the players waiting for the national team call?

We have to be real this time around because it is not about foreign coach but it is all about getting good results and achievements.

I hope we all remember next level of president Buhari? We are seeing Oga Rohr next level. Okoye, Nigerian no1 goalie? Oga Amaju, we are watching. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Ihenacho will play the position

  • Marvelous 3 years ago

We should forget about the match. NFF Should pay those boys so that whenever they are called for friendlies, no matter how unimportant the friendly is they will honour it. I can’t blame the ones that played and the coach for losing. How can we face Cameron with such an average team without substitutes? If I was one of the players I will be shooting the ball into Nigerian goalpost. Nonsense NFF. Imagine a defence to face Cameron without ekong, balogun, sanusi,Aina, ebuehi. In the forward line no chukwese, osimhen,Aribo. We should forget about the match because no need to play. There is no way the current players available will be selected for us to even have a draw. If you have good cash bet on Cameron to win.

The next match result on Tuesday will be Cameroon 4. Nigeria 0.
Cameroon will teach Super Chickens a lesson they will never forget.
They know now that Nigeria don’t have a Goal-keeper. That Iheanacho is a shadow of himself. The rest of them are all newbies playing in the 2nd Division in their leagues.
After the match on Tuesday, because of the way Cameroon will humiliate Nigeria, FIFA ratings will drop to 7 or possibly 8 in Africa. Mexico will call off their scheduled friendly match saying Nigeria Super chickens is no good enough.

    • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Nigeria can not loose by 4 goals, Nigeria will win by a lone goal.

    • @Edoman. This is far believe your standard. You are more than this. You fall my hand with this comment.

        I don’t think that’s Edoman.

Guys, l am what l am. l was just angry with the ways the boys played that match. l am sorry for venting my disappointments in such a fashion after l saw the match. l am sure many of you guys were not happy too. Too many hands spoil the soup. Everybody were shooting into the air as if nothing was a stake or not worthy to be there. Too many newbies who shouldn’t be there. Seriously, lets hope they redeem their reputations on Tuesday evening. Agreed ?

  • JimmyBall 3 years ago

… To date I still do not believe Okoye is as good as Uzoho.

    • Mr Ringmybell 3 years ago

Guyman, Okoye wey chop 4 against Sierra Leone. No be boasting, Akpeyi sef better pass Okoye.

      • ChrisB 3 years ago

Okoye is progressing. In most cases, you are only as good as your defence that is supposedto give you cover. I have watched him severally in the Dutch league and must say He is progressing as expected.Uzoho is a very good keeper, but for the injury that kept him out of the team for a lengthy period of time Paving a way for Okoye,Uzoho would still be no. 1 in my opinion. Any way we see it, I believe we have 2 very good goal keepers that can only get better.

    • Diran 3 years ago

Uzoho seems to be a better goalkeeper than Okoye right now, but Okoye and Uzoho can both grow as they both have age on their side.

  • Okoye for fit catch that ball or push for corner kick

  • JimmyBall 3 years ago

the only reason Rohr relegated Uzoho to no.2 is because Okoye is German born… I swear to God. I live in Germany so nobody fit argue their mentality with me… Okoye Maduka na very amateurish and baby-goalkeeper.

    • @jimmyball you are fond of criticizing everything. Encourage the boy. He is doing well in Holland – probably you forgot that

      • JimmyBall 3 years ago

Oga stop deceiving yourself. Maduka Okoye playing for Sparta Rotterdam does not make him the best we have… The coach is just unduly favoring him. He is not better than Uzoho. Uzoho went on injury and is back… even before he came back Rohr already announced Maduka as number 1… Why? I am being frank… He is not the best we have home and abroad.

        • Dr Banks 3 years ago

You are being unreasonable in your assertion that UZOHO is better than OKOYE. Watch that goal scored by Anguisa again with a clear mind and you will see it will beat 90% of all GKs.
What is your criteria for believing Uzoho is better? Okoye plays regularly with 10 clean sheets out of 29 in the just concluded league in Holland, even made the “Team of the season”! Do you think that’s a fluke? How many games did Uzoho play in lowly Cypriot?
These 2 GKs were both in the Training sessions for the match under the supervision of Alloy Agu and he made his choice based on the performance at the training. GR will pick the GK to start a match based on Alloy’s recommendations so why would you JimmyBall who was never at the training grounds or watched all matches played in their respective clubs come here to declare bodly that Uzoho is better than Okoye?
Let’s all allow the coaches do the job they are being paid to do and once they fail to meet the target set for them, then we can relieve them of the job.

        • JimmyBall 3 years ago

@Dr.Banks… what I am happy about is that I believe Coach Rohr reads our comments here. It is my belief that somehow our arguments and counter-arguments gets the attention of NFF and our coaching department… we are all positive contributors and CSN forum shows how passionate Nigerians are about their football… I pray the coaches make the right calls and adjustments before we square Cape Verde. Those guys playing for Cape Verde are good… walahi we have a serious fight on our hands for that World Cup 2022 ticket… those guys maul Cameroon 3-1 during last series of Afcon 2021 qualifiers… we have to put our house fast in order before crunch time..

          • Abdul 3 years ago

Again, you will see how this team will qualify comfortably over Cape verde and the rest. Time will tell.

    • Thank you@Glory. Nigerians are just bD losers. That Cameroon team is not good. Except their goal keeper. Eagles created chances. I think something has to wrong with us as a people. We vent our anger on everything nowadays. God will help us.

      • pompei 3 years ago

        My brother CMN,
I disagree with you. Cameroon were good! They played well. However, we were better than them, even though we fielded a weakened side. We had no business losing that game, because we created so many chances that should have been converted. But we lost the game. And a big reason for the loss was our strikers’ profligacy in front of goal. Our cause was not helped by the Cameroon goalie, who put up a splendid performance.
So if I come across as a bad loser, it is because we lost a game we had no business losing. If Cameroon were better than us, that’s a different story. But they were not! Nigeria needs to stop losing winnable matches, friendly or otherwise, if we want to challenge the big footballing nations.

        • Omo9ja 3 years ago

@pompei, I agree with you on this one. Nigeria definitely deserves to win that match.

Onuachu and the rest of the squad tried their best.

Towards the end of the match, Oga Rohr made late changes which was In favor of the Nigerian team but that sub was too Late.

Look at the way Cameroonian coach made his substitutions compear to Oga Rohr.

Since Onuachu have been playing for Nigeria, the lanky striker was every where on the pitch. He did so well in that encounter.

On Tuesday, oga Rohr should put fear aside and introduce our new players to start the match.

Since we don’t have Nwakali in the team presently, Iwobi is the main man to supply our attackers in the front.

Olayinka, Iwuala and Marcus shows some flashes but again, late sub is drawing Oga Rohr team back.

Super Eagles were superior to Cameroonian team in that encounter.

These are the things the coach have to do on Tuesday.

No1. Uzoho should be in goal post on that day.

N02. Oga Rohr should change his tactics, he should play Onuachu towards end of the match, 20 minutes is okay for Onuachu.

The gaffer should play Olayinka, Marcus, Iwuala and others in the first half.

His regular players can come in in the second half of the match.

I love to see the guy that replaced Ekong. I would like to see more of him.

Hopefully, Oga Rohr will rest Ekong.

Also, Uzoho and the third goalie should be given a chance to play.

We can beat Cameroon on Tuesday but the manager have to believe in his team.

I still can’t believe that Super Eagles can not dominate the big teams. when playing against the lower teams, you see their best but when playing against the top teams, they don’t know what to do.

Why does it have to be like that? Well, I don’t know.

Maybe the tactics of the gaffer is letting him down.

If we play the way we played on Friday in the next match on Tuesday or seeing Okoye in goal then, Oga Rohr doesn’t deserve to be a Nigerian coach.

          Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

          • KangA 3 years ago

This is not Omo9ja. This is a clone –too soft on Rohr with a sprinkling of polished writing.

Please let’s hear Omo9ja’s take on this match. To hell with clones!!!

        • Mr Ringmybell 3 years ago

Sensible talk @pompei. An analysis devoid of sentiments not like the epistle from @glory that made no sense at all.

  • GLORY 3 years ago

ummmh… I just remembered that our glorious GOLDEN 1996 OLYMPIC squad complete with all our stars lost 3-0 to togo in a friendly game played in nigeria before the olympic proper. SO WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT LOSING IN A FRIENDLY GAME? CRITICIZISM NOW TURNED INTO HATE. BUT YOU LOTS SHALL BE HUMBLED WELLA IN THE VERY END I CAN PUT A BET ON THAT WITH ANYONE.

  • So because the team lost, the team is made up of newbies and kelechi is a shadow of himself hmmm. The team played better than Cameroon and created more chances than them. Its just because our players didn’t put on their scoring boots that made us lose alot of scoring opportunities along with good goal keeping from the Cameroonian goalie.
Now that two main defenders are out of the next game, I want to see how the coach will set up his team. He can still play a 4-2-3-1 if he wants with the following players:

    UZOHO

    AWAZIEM. VALENTINE. IZU. SHEHU

    NDIDI. ETEBO.

    IWOBI. IHEANACHO. SIMON

    MOFFI.

OR HE CAN PLAY A 3-5-2 style

    UZOHO.

    AWAZIEM. IZU. VALENTINE

    SIMON. NDIDI. ETEBO. OLAYIMKA.

    IWOBI

    IHEANACHO. MOFFI.

    Or even 4-4-2:

    UZOHO

    AWAZIEM. VALENTINE. IZU. SHEHU

    IWOBI NDIDI. ETEBO. SIMON

    IHEANACHO. MOFFI

I keep putting Uzoho in goal because I think its time we use someone else other than okoye. Okoye is an ok goalie but he is not the type that gives confidence.
I also think the coach needs to be courageous and use the new players from the start. Lets hope their shooting improves on match day

    • Footballfanatic 3 years ago

Well thought out bro. Friendlies like this should be used to try out the new players to create competition in the team. I don’t get the reason invite them and play then for only 5 minutes or 10 minutes. It’s a non competitive match.

    • Diran 3 years ago

yes, the coach should let Uzoho start the next match.

  • pompei 3 years ago

I like the 3-5-2 system. We are always tough to beat when we line up with this system. I suggest a line up similar to Sportsfan but with a little tweak:

    Okoye/Uzoho

    Awazzy, Izu, Val

    Shehu, Marcus, Ndidi, Iwobi, Simon

    Nacho, Moffi

Subs can be made as needed during the game. I will start Marcus because apart from the attacking threat he brings, he is also good defensively, and will be a great help to Ndidi in the midfield. This will give Iwobi license to roam forward and do the damage he is capable of. Iheanacho will play where he is most deadly, just behind the striker, Moffi.

  • Abdul handsy 3 years ago

It is high time Rohr started taking every matches seriously either friendly or not because on the contrary to his statement it counts a lot.

The FIFA monthly ranking is something to always take into cognizance. I am still to get the point Rohr is trying to make here, you will invite new players and play them few mins to the end of the matches then, in common sense how will you access them properly for God sake?

Rohr should start winning matches if not for anything at all for the sake of my happiness and joy…..

Rohr will loose winnable match, he will go the press and tell us that it is not really important to win then, why playing it in the first place, if it was meant to test newly invited players then, play those players so that we can see what they can do na!

Wait! Can rohr do with German national team what he is doing with Nigeria National team? If he want to coach even when being owed plenty months salaries then, he should coach well and if he is not really interested in the job anymore he should quit for once and stop toying with my joy.

Wait o! Guys una no go help me shout this shout? Why is it taking God-knows-years to get English Nigerian eligible players clear to start playing for us like this na???

From the same England, Germany cleared Jamal musiala within just 2-3weeks and he has started playing for them then, why is Nigerian own this difficult and time consuming, hope Lookman, Ejaria and Ugbo won’t get to 30years and more before they are free to play for us.

Another1! What’s happening with Olise matter na??? Why is it taking too long for the NFF to secure him an international passports for him na?

Another1 guys what’s the super eagles scouting team really doing with their scouting work na? Why haven’t they spotted Alhassan Yusuf of IFK Gothenburg of sweeden na? The day I read that he is “an upgraded version of Kante” I was shock until I went on YouTube to see things myself. Omo dat guy na midfield Dynamo mehn!

NFF make una do d right thing Abeg naaa!

    • JimmyBall 3 years ago

This guy Alhassan Yusuf should take the place of Oghenekaro Etebo… Etebo is a junk player, with zero contribution in real midfield play. I don talk my own… He continues to be invited because like Pinick… he is a Warri boy.

      • Edoman 3 years ago

@JimmyBall. I twice agree with you. Oghene Etebo is an outmoded player. He has overstayed his usefulness. They know it and everybody knows it. He is there because he an Warri boy. That’s bad for the Country.

    • Sean T 3 years ago

For real this guy have the ability to impact match than Etebo. He will really compliment Ndidi and Iwobi when we’re playing African teams bcos of the physical challenge but i will still prefer to see combination of Aribo, Ndido and Iwobi when playing European teams and South American teams. Etebo is too static and offer below par to be considered in eagles line up. Also the best wingers we have remain Chukwueze, Simon, Ejuke & maybe Kalu on his good day. Musa also still have something to contribute bcos i was surprised by his performance in the friendly. If only we can get Lookman play for us cuz to me he is very technical and is final third is way better than the rest. And Osimhen for me is irreplaceable. Dessers, Ihaenacho or Moffi should partner him upfront. Onuachu and Simy on the bench

  • MuYiwa 3 years ago

Many of the criticisms on this platform are rather cynical than constructive. Okoye conceded 4 against S/L and he has moved on since then to better performances for club and country. I can’t believe he is being blamed for the goal on Friday. Liverpool conceded 7 against a lowly rats Aston Villa, Chelsea’s Mendy conceded 5 against relegation-bound West Brom, etc. Uzoho performed below par against Lesotho despite being untested for most part of the game. The visitors would have equalised when we were a goal up, when Uzoho palmed a freekick directly to the feet of an opponent striker, but thanks to the offside flag. You can watch the highlights again. So let’s stop this noise abt Rohr favouring Okoye cos he’s Germany-born. For now he’s the most in-form of the two.

    • God bless you my brother… Leave those nitwit alone. Happy Sunday

  • Sean T 3 years ago

Abdul Hansy thanks for the video upload. That Alhassan Yusuf should make up Eagles midfield trio of Ndidi, Yusuf and Iwobi in the absence of Aribo. Etebo is no longer reliable considering is performance lately.

  • Mr Ringmybell 3 years ago

Nigeria is at point where the unity of it’s populace is dwindling and football is a source of joy to a vast cross section of the Nigerian bond..

With such performances displayed by the Super eagles who are the number one brand of football in the country – the hearts of Nigerians are broken….

After watching the friendly match of Nigeria vs Cameroon in Austria _ I came to a viable conclusion that Rohr is taking Nigerian footbal nowhere ….

Even with star players pulling out Rohr has no excuse to assemble a potential squad to prosecute this game.

Technically, look at the shambolic game the players played in Austria. Devoid of tactics. And some claimed the eagles are “Unlucky”That statement really sets me off and many others who feel the pain .

If you truly sat and watched this game well, Nigeria has more better players than Cameroon in almost every department but with a very poor Coach going into the second round of world Cup Qualifiers, teams like Mali, Cameroon, CIV and Morocco will knock Nigeria out

How can you owe an European coach for 6 months and he’s still here. That alone says it all.

Someone should please explain to me how an European coach will not be paid for 6 months and he’s still here?

    How does he feed?

    Is he not racketeering ?

How long can we endure these set backs in our football..?

    • JimmyBall 3 years ago

NFF is deliberately owing Rohr if at all they are owing him really because they know him to be a quack. No coach worth his onions will take such shit-splash in the face repeatedly… Maybe Pinick is deliberately owing him because he has refused to take their advice and go for a refresher course as advised since it was last suggested…

      • Mr Ringmybell 3 years ago

Rohr is bereft of new ideas. You need to see the way the eagles played in the last friendly against Cameron, so bad!!!. Yet he had the best selection of players at his disposal. He got me more angry as he clapped for the boys at every obvious wrong display made on the pitch that day. I can’t imagine the eagles playing that way against a Cameroonian team.

  • JimmyBall 3 years ago

@MuYiwa… Uzoho remains more stable and solid compared to Maduka… so because Uzoho palmed a ball wrongly versus Lesotho means he is not as good as Okoye? Okoye need another solid two to three years of solid goalkeeping to be Eagles number 1. Clearly for now he isn’t better than Uzoho!

  • With limited options in the super eagles midfield, alhassan will be a great addition to the team. Nice key passes, good pace bringing the ball out from midfield to the attack, good upper body strength, clean tackles from Alhassan Yusuf. He is the kind of player we should be inviting to the team and not players who keep disappointing every time they are given an opportunity.I can see him in this formation:

    OKOYE

    AINA. AKPOGUMA. EKONG. ZAIDU

    NDIDI

    ALHASSAN. ARIBO (IWOBI)

    CHUKWUEZE SIMON

    OSIMHEN

The guy is a fighter and tireless player. We should go for him now and not wait for players whose switch of allegiance may or may not go through.

    • JimmyBall 3 years ago

@Sportsfan… Pray our coaching crew and technical department listens! There is even a certain Alhassan Muazzam in CD Nacional in Portugal who can do a good job too… We short in quality midfield options.
