Tuchel Condemns Chelsea Fans For Chanting Abramovich’s Name Before Burnley Game

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has condemned the Blues fans who chanted Roman Abramovich’s name during a show of support for Ukraine ahead of their 4-0 win over Burnley, talkSPORT. reports.

As part of the Premier League’s show of solidarity with Ukraine following the Russian invasion of the country, a minute’s applause took place at Turf Moor prior to kick-off on Saturday.

But a number of Chelsea fans interrupted the applause to sing the name of owner Abramovich, who announced earlier this week that he has put the west London club up for sale.

His decision to sell the club came amid calls from politicians for him to be the target of sanctions in the UK following his home country’s invasion of Ukraine.

And when asked what he made of the chants in his post-match, Tuchel said:“It’s not the moment to do this. If we show solidarity we show solidarity and we should do it together.

“We take the knee together. If an important person from our club or another club unfortunately dies we have a minute of respect.

“It is not the moment to give other messages. It’s the moment to show respect. We want to do this. As a club we need our fans to commit to this minute of applause.

“We do it for Ukraine and there is no second opinion about this situation. They have our thoughts and our support and we should stand together. It’s not the moment for other messages.”

Following Saturday’s match, a Chelsea spokesperson said: “The club’s very firm view is that moments of respect or recognition should always be honoured by everyone present.”

Chelsea have won 21 trophies, including two Champions League crowns and five Premier League titles, since the Russian took over in June 2003.

His purchase of Chelsea was a game-changer in English football and transformed the club’s fortunes on the pitch for the better.

The Blues have won five Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions Leagues under Abramovich’s ownership – recently completing a clean sweet of trophies with the FIFA Club World Cup.

It’s not clear what direction Chelsea will go in once the sale is completed, or who will even buy the club off Abramovich.

  • Roman Abramovich turn the fortune of the whole premier league around positively due to his astute handling of Chelsea Fc. His leadership style encourages other clubs, which skyrocket the revenue of premiership and England in general. He deserves some respect.

The Roman Army can’t forget him. He is indeed a game changer. His transformation of Chelsea paved way for other hitherto mediocre clubs to be bought and transformed into big guns in European football. Man city and PSG are examples
