Tunisia Midfielder, Sliti: AFCON 2019 Semis Feat Delightful, We Want Bronze Too

The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia midfielder Niam Sliti says he and teammates are delighted to reach the AFCON 2019 semifinals though losing to Senegal was disappointing, but are now keen on giving their best to win the bronze medal, Completesports.com reports.

Tunisia and Nigeria will take to the pitch of Al Salam Stadium Cairo tonight (Wednesday) to play for the Bronze medal of the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations. The kickoff is 8pm, Nigerian time.

Sliti, a Dijon of France attacking midfielder, assures that he and teammates are determined to win tonight’s bronze medal match against Nigeria to serve as a consolation.

“We are delighted with what we have accomplished in this African competition. It was true that our start had been difficult in the tournament, but we then made a good impression in the knockout stages,” Sliti who Scored in Tunisia’s Second Round 3-0 win against Madagascar and in the 5-4 shootout win against Ghana in the quarterfinals told reporters in Cairo.

“We played against big teams like Ghana and Senegal. We played the game the way we wanted in the semifinal, and we were hoping to reach the penalty shootout, especially since the match was balanced and there was no team stronger than the other.”

Sliti added: “We’re very keen to win the Third-Place match and take the bronze medal. I think we achieved something good by reaching the semi-finals. We hope to achieve a better feat in the next (AFCON) finals.”
