Tunisia Sack Coach After AFCON Exit

The Tunisia Football Federation have sacked head coach of the Carthage Eagles Mondher Kebaier following the team’s exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The TFF announced the decision on Sunday, a day after the Carthage Eagles elimination from the AFCON.

The North Africans lost 1-0 to the Stallions of Burkina Faso in their quarter-final clash at the Roumde Adija Stadium, Garoua on Saturday.

The 51-year-old has been in charge of the team since August 2019.

Kebaier’s assistant Jalel Kadri will take charge of the side for the two-legged play-off against Mali in March for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The former champions finished third in their group, but managed to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.

They beat Nigeria 1-0 in the second round before succumbing to Burkina Faso in the Round of 16.

You see country? Whether they defeated Nigeria means nothing to them… they thought themselves better than the ouster against Burkina Faso… to think that we gave Rohr more than five(5) years on the job in a completed countey like Nigeria with football craze is simply amazing… The exploits of Cisse (Senegal Coach) and Burkina Faso Coach, both being local coaches should open our eyes that we must trust and develop our own… Burkina Faso returned to using a local hand who shares same passion with his players and see where they are at… lesson being : Whiteskin na wash, if we trust our own and give them the half of the sort of contract we beg the moongods with whiteskins to take and coach us from their various native countries… our owns will burst the sky with results! If you want to believe otherwise it is your business…
