South Africa U-20 head coach, Thabo Senong, says his team will be up for the fight against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in Tuesday’s Group A clash at the U-20 AFCON in Niger, Completesports.com reports.
The Amajita held the hosts Niger to a 1-1 draw in the competition’s opening game on Saturday.
Midfielder Siphesihle Mkhize headed home an equalizer in the 71st minute to cancel out Abdoul Amoustapha’s 64th minute goal.
Senong charges will look to record their first win of the competition when they face the Flying Eagles at Seyni Kouche Stadium on Tuesday. The Paul Aigbogun’s team defeated Burundi 2-0 in the group’s other matchday-one fixture.
Senong says he and his tactical staff will analyze their next opponents thoroughly, so that they can also come out with a positive result.
“We will look at Nigeria and analyse how they play,” Senong told the official website of the South Africa Football Association website.
“We still have good players in our squad who are yet to feature in our upcoming matches and I believe the team will be ready when we face Nigeria.”
A win for the Flying Eagles will see them book a spot in the semi-final and the ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
