Falconets head coach Moses Aduku says his team is fully prepared for their opening match against Spain at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria will face Spain in their Group F opener in Sosnowiec on Monday, September 7.
The Falconets rounded off their preparations for the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Korea Republic in a friendly on Tuesday afternoon.
The result followed their 1-0 victory over hosts Poland in another warm-up encounter in Brzeg last Friday.
Aduku Satisfied With Preparations
Aduku expressed satisfaction with his players’ performances in both friendly matches, insisting the team is in good shape ahead of the World Cup.

“So far, so good. We are done with our friendly games, and for me, we are good. There are no injury worries, and my girls are ready. Therefore, we’re waiting for the 7th against Spain,” Aduku told NFF media.
Reflecting on the draw against Korea Republic, the coach admitted his side could have won the game but praised the quality of their opponents.
“For me, the game was so good. We lost one or two scoring chances to win the game, but all the same, I respect the Korean team. They are also a good side,” he said.
Focus Shifts To Spain
Aduku added that the Falconets are now fully focused on their clash with Spain and will approach the competition one game at a time.
“Yes, we are ready. That’s why we are in Poland. We are here to take one game at a time, and we have no other game but to play against Spain. So, we are ready,” he added.
The Falconets will be hoping to make a positive start to their campaign when they take on the Spaniards in their opening Group F fixture.

All the best Mr Aduku. The questions I want to raise are: Will you be tactically aware when the opponents change formation when the game is on? Coach Milo once said that him and Quiroz were playing chess game in an AFCON match. To show you how tactics varies during a match.

The Spaniards women is comprised of battle-tested, and highest-level experienced footballers- 5 each comes from both serial Euro women champions league winners, Barcelona, and from Real Madrid feminine (total 10 from these 2 top teams). The other 11 come from Athletico Madrid, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad and a handful from Juventus and Fiorentina Women’s club. And with an experienced Women Coach, in David Azner, managing a very talented and fit squad, the Falconets have a formidable opening match to deal with.
Aduku must ensure a solid, fit ladies on the pitch, especially in midfield for Falconets, and cover the spaces to stop or limit Spain’s intricate, triangular passes and split off dribbles into the box and to cause maximum damage.
Spain,at all levels of football, are great from midfield to forwards/strikers, but are not quite as good at the back/defence!
With quick and fast runners like Mary Mamudu and fit/big bullies like Janet Akekoromowei upfront, the Falconets can always score the odd goals- if they can exploit their strength and run at the Spaniards defence.
So Aduku and his wards must be cautious but not fear the Spaniards U-20 women next Monday.
