Hosts Morocco handed Black Meteors of Ghana a humiliating 5-1 defeat in their second Group A game at the 2023 U-23 AFCON on Tuesday.
The Black Meteors went into the game on the back of a 3-2 win against Congo while Morocco edged Guinea 2-1.
Ibrahim Tanko’s side endured a terrible start to both halves and were simply sloppy throughout the game, coupled with poor organization and defending.
A brace from Yanis Begraoui and a goal each from Michael Richardson, Ismael Saibari and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli earned the hosts the massive win.
While Salim Adams scored for Black Meteors to make it 3-1.
With the defeat, the Black Meteors are third in the group with three points from their opening two games.
Morocco top the group and are on six points after playing two games.
Meanwhile the Ghanaian team must now win the game against Guinea on Friday to leapfrog second placed Guinea and qualify for the semifinals of the competition.

Ghana has the character to win against Guinea and qualify for the next round despite the huge loss to Morocco.
Meanwhile,Morocco’s football is on the rise after an impressive World Cup campaign in Qatar a success which has rubbed off both its junior and female teams respectively, that’s the result you get for doing something right at the F.A. Sadly ours are occupied with giving slots to home base and inviting inactive players yet expecting success at all fronts.
This is wotowoto. It was the banku they had for breakfast that caused it.
hahahahahaha please please don’t laugh and make fun of them they are our friend
We advised them to stop eating banku and kenkey for breakfast at tournaments, they no wan hear. Now see wetin don happen.
hahahhaha you again ! but the 5 goals is too much ! i think banku contributed to it hahahahahaha
It wasn’t
We played on Sunday, had one day rest and played on Tuesday!
Africans are plain stupid!!
U can’t punished teams like this in high profile tournaments
Morocco had like three days rest!
Ghana and Congo didn’t and is a ploy by caf to reward the host!
There’s no way a fit and healthy Ghana that have had enough rest will be beaten by Moroccans with that scoreline! Never
Caf is trying so hard to help Morocco win this but they can’t!
Wait and see
That’s true. The scheduling of games was poor. It gave undue advantage to Morocco. Guinea also benefited in a similar way, as they had more days of rest than Congo, and thus looked fresher in their game, which they won 3-1.
With Morocco, at any level, their strategy is to sit back and hit you on the counter when you commit men forward. They try to score an early goal, they then sit back and wait for you to come out, so they can exploit spaces you leave at the back. The counter attacking game works for them because their players are very fit and fast. This is how they won most of their matches at the world cup. And it worked for them against Ghana today. Even if they score first, stay compact at the back, and do not commit too many men forward. Doing this allows you to stay in the game, and possibly turn things around.
We didn’t have enough rest
Caf is favoring Morocco
We played on Sunday and played again on Tuesday
Moroccans have a lot of rest unlike Ghana and Congo
Caf is simply helping Morocco to win it beccause of the money they have invested in period
Go and watch the full match!! Ghana was game but our boys were tired period
Lack of rest was indeed a factor, but poor tactics also contributed to the defeat. Committing too many men forward in search of an equalizer played directly into Morocco’s hands. There was also an element of misfortune. The second goal by Ghana that was correctly disallowed would have been good if the ball had not gone out of play. And that could have changed the game. If the score had been 3-2, Ghana would have had their tails up, would likely have got something out of the game, and we would not be here talking about their lack of rest.
Tthe Banku Boys are down, but not out. It’s up to them to make the next game count.
You won’t see that leaky and loud tap-mouth boy, Fetch, or the other hypocrite, Yaw here. Suddenly, dudes are dumb and mute. It’s just crickets on a lonely road on a dark and cold night. But wait till any Nigerian team loses and they’ll flood here with their pretentious ass and wiggle typing fingers, trying to talk down Nigeria’s profile and pride of place in African football and pushing up Ghana as some sort of ‘Brazil’ of Africa. Talk about inferiority complex in its full shame.
Stupid boys @Fetch and @Yaw, show your bloodied face already. Stop being selective about what Ghana or Nigerian post/stories to comment on. There’s one other stupid one, I forgot his name. Not @selfmade though.
I keep on saying it that Ghana teams are failure outside babayara stadium where they always threaten and use all form of dubious ways to win their opponents.
For any team to go far in football competition nowadays, you must use your Brian. All this physical football without sense is no longer useful. It may help you with some teams within Africa but not with North African countries our Europe.
God bless Super Eagles of Nigeria as we don’t rely only on physical strength but also use our sense to play football which the whole world will soon see as soon as we get a good Coach.
God bless Nigeria.
Did u watched the match?
Caf is doing everything for North African teams to always have the upper hand!!
We played on SUNDAY and played again on Tuesday!!
Morocco had a lot of rest unlike Ghana and Congo
The Ghanaians just as the Congolese were tired!!
Caf is favoring the host because of money period
@Godsate not only a good coach but, NO interference on the team selection process by Ex internationals, NFF Officials, Nigerian government, Business entities in Nigeria (i.e. Sponsors and Alhaji’s and Chiefs what ever you like) and also Quota system and tribalism.
Nigeria football has all the potential but too many dubious minds with no real passion for our success in the overall game behind the scene
U simply dumb!!
The Arabs are more physical when they meet west AFRICA teams!
What’s a sore loser u are!
Football is a physical game and only an idiot ll think like u are doing right now
What A DOSSIER!!
If u playing in humid conditions in Morocco and they scheduled ur game such that u have only a day rest, u ll understand u ASSHOLE!!
Ghana played on Sunday, had one day to rest and played Morocco on Tuesday!!
Ghanaian players even tried as they were tired from the humid conditions and lack of proper rest
Moroccans had enough time to rest properly unlike Ghana!
Grow up u idiot
I think I will differ here. I still feel there is no sinister plan from CAF but only bad tactics from Ghana. It was only fair that one match was played on the opening day. If Ghana had also played the game on the opening day, they would also have an extra day off.
What I expected Ghana to have done was to absorb pressure and played for a draw since there are fewer groups and matches between previous group matches.
Guinea also benefited from the extra day off by winning yesterday. Benefit of playing opening ceremony match, I guess
Have u ever been friends with footballs before?? For u to truly understand why footballers goes through and for u truly appreciate their craft and for u to have a better understanding of what they goes through after each game, try as much as possible to be friends with one or find an social media profile of a player and dm him to tell u how they feel after each game!
I had the opportunity to be friends with a lot GHANAIAN footballers esp essien, muntari and a lot of our local footballers and I experienced first hand, how they suffered after each serious match!!
Some of them cannot sleep and they cried all the night because they lost a match
Some of them goes straight to bed because they can’t walk as they say, their feet feels like THEY ARE PEDDLING A BICYCLE after the game!
Have u ever had that feeling before after rising a bicycle and coming home and u still feel like u are peddling even if u are not?
Again, some of them, their legs ll shakes for DAYS, their muscles ll shakes will shake for days too!
Most of the retired footballers have this legs and muscles twerking!
So u know nothing about the plights of these footballers! Stop always talking about tactics!
The amount of energy that these footballers burnt on the field is incalculable and the average guy like u, wldnt understand!
Playing in a humid condition in Morocco and having a day to rest can affect the health of the players in such a way that an average guy like ur self isn’t familiar with!
Fifa didn’t sanctioned this tournament because they knew it ll affect the well being of the players based on the scheduling but u and I know that a lot of AFRICANS ARE PLAIN STUPID!
Is sad to say tho but a lot of AFRICANS DONT THINK!
Read this post, have a sober reflections of what I have told u and find a place in ur heart to SAY THANK U TO ALL FOOTBALLERS all over the world!!
Say thank u to ur NIGERIAN PLAYERS
Say thank u to Ghanaian players for all the joy they brought to us in-spite of health hazards!
@Selfmade KING , I beg to slightly differ here.Had the Black Meteors won this game would you attribute it to tiredness or lack of enough rest time?Ibrahim Tank is clueless and did not get his selection, substitution, and tactics right. Also the GFA is silently corrupt and wave under ground influence like their cohorts in the NFF. Even many of my Ghanaian brothers including you knew this and its everywhere on SM.What will you say when Andre play all 90 minutes in Madagascar match, but he does not play even 15 minutes with forest?Until the GFA and NFF get it right, the trophy would be eluding both teams and don’t be surprise at humiliating results like this
U right about this my bro and I have said it several times here that our gfa is corrupt like the nff!
Am wishing u nothing but the best my bro
@Selfmade,Thanks and we hope both FA get it right. No doubt Ghana is a super power in African football and Nigeria was following up rapidly.
Some corrupt folks sabotaging the discipline process
All the best bro. We want to watch good football once again.Thats all what we are asking for and it’s not too much.
@Selfmade made a valid point that only football people will truely understand,as a coach myself I’ve experienced something similar my team L.I.F.C traveled to Abuja to face a team in a friendly and we arrived at noon on matchday, played the match 50 mins later and struggled to cope with the high altitude which led to us losing the match 4-0 so weather conditions is being weaponised in African football, ever wonder why countries like south Africa rarely loose at home especially if the match is played at Soweto? Also a sound F.A should be able to protest these bad fixture scheduling but when they’re hands deep in collective corruption, then the players and staff are left to suffer the consequences which is a shame.my Ghanaian brother Selfmade, take heart you guys will still qualify.
Why would CAF make such a stupid schedule in such high altitude area?
Because Morrocco has the money. Why do you think Morrocco host almost every football tournament these days?
Because the rest of us in the continent are refusing to sit up and get things right administratively
