Unfortunately, it was not enough as Milan could only finish third and earn a spot in the Europa League.

The Italian giants needed PSG to lose against Borussia Dortmund to stand a chance of going through.

But the Ligue 1 champions played out a hard fought 1-1 draw in Germany to finish second.

Dortmund topped the group on 11 points, PSG and Milan ended on eight points but the French giants advanced on goals difference while Newcastle finished bottom on five points.

Joelinton had given Newcastle United the lead in the 33rd minute before Christian Pulisic equalized for Milan on 59 minutes.

Chukwueze, who came on in the 83rd minute, finished off a counter attack, as he curled the ball into the far top corner to put Milan 2-1 ahead.

In Group H, Alhassan Yusuf provided an assist to help Royal Antwerp beat Barcelona 3-2 in Belgium.

Another Nigerian also in action for Antwerp was Chidera Ejuke, who was later replaced on 79 minutes.

Yusuf set up his teammate to put Antwerp 2-1 ahead in the 56th minute.

It was Antwerp’s first and only win in the group as they finished bottom.

Barcelona had already qualified for the round of 16 going into the game against the Belgian champions.

Porto finished second in the group after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-3 with Zaidu Sanusi in action.

  • Hope Mr Maldini will have the gut to come back and apologize now? Because if not for chukzy Milan would be completely out of Europe right now, coming out to label your player a waste of money just because you didn’t approve of it is nonsense.

Do your thing chukzy and leave all this ex players running there mouth alone, now nobody will criticize the rubbish Hernandez played toward the last minutes of the game that would have earn chukzy an easy brace but just imagine if that was chukzy?

On the contrary, maldini was right. One assist in as many league matches is a poor stats for a player that was made Milan highest signing this season. You cannot have one good game and be poor in the next five matches. He needs to find consistency in his game to prevent being dump out of the club like saleamaker and messiah

      • I beg to disagree, yes chukzy  need improve his game but dnt remember he was injured couple with dealing with a new surroundings and different league entirely, some players need time to gel and adapt to a new environment, I’m not trying to make a case for him here but for a club legend like Maldini to condemn him like that is not acceptable, criticism is good but not the way Maldini attack all the new players just bcos he wasn’t the one who bought them.

          Rejnders 1 assist 1 goal
          Lotus-cheek 1 assist 1 goal
          Chukwueze 1 assist 0 goal

It is not by being Maldini signing or not this guys are not just pulling their weight. Even the fans are complaining.

If not for pulisic, how will Milan would have faired now that leao had a little purple patch

          • And we all saw what Hernandez play towards the end of the match today right? Just imagine the game is still tied at 1-1 and he played that trash, that’s suppose to be one of the captains right? And you forgot this guys you named are in there first season, not with Ac Milan alone but the entire Italian league, they need time, at least before we can label them as flop, we gat give them till next season.

Bros go rest, what did he do that was special in the match. Because he scored. Was he the only one on the field of play.

He is a waste of a player. Chuck has moments but he is not an end toe end player. He is just a dribbler. Emery, a great coach who is doing well with villa started Chuck when he was at villareal. But then he started putting him on the bench because they were better players ahead of him. He has moments, like the time he scored against bayern off the bench to send villareal to the quarter finals. He is just not a regular player and or a starter. He just has moments.

These type of remarks will always mess up the se team. A player plays terrible regularly. But the moment the player does one good thing in a while they say bring him on the next international break. Its not a coincidence where 2 teams dont think highly of Chuck. He is a Nigerian kai haverts.

    • Every players have ups and down, and to the contrary, chukzy enjoy good playing time under emery, remember even emery intend taking him to epl with him.

You don’t get it. This is the most successful club in Europe after Real Madrid we are talking about. You have to be churning out good performance every match. Chukwueze undoing is his inconsistency. At this level that is not allowed. He scored against dortmound the other day and the next two consecutive games he was completely useless.

        • Then we have to kill hazard and kaka then right? This his first season for crying out loud. Give him time.

What of here in national team , is it still a new environment to him for us to give him time?
Let’s stop sentiments with these inconsistent players who do not want to improve their game.
Chuks is more of a regular flop than consistent performer even in national assignments is evident.

I am not saying they are flop but it is high time they start putting in a good shift on a consistent basis
