UEFA Salutes Orban After Bagging Four Goals In Gent’s 6-2 League Win Haul

Europe’s football governing body, UEFA, has praised Nigerian striker Gift Orban after he scored four goals in Gent’s 6-2 win against Zulte-Waregem in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.

The four goals took Orban‘s tally to seven in five League appearances this season.

Julien De Sart scored the first goal of the match in the 37th minute and Alessio Castro-Montes made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Timothy Derijck pulled one back for Zulte-Waregem in the 52nd minute and Orban made it 3-1 a minute later.

Jelle Vossen scored another goal for the home team in the 65th minute and Orban subsequently scored three more goals to complete the rout.

And reacting to his performance, UEFA wrote on their Europa Conference League Twitter handle:”Gift Orban ballin’ ⚽⚽⚽⚽ 4 goals for the 20 year old in his last game @KAA Gent #UECL.”

Gent are in round 16 of the Europa Conference League and will take a 1-1 scoreline to Turkey to face Istanbul Basaksehir.

Orban was at Norwegian outfit Stabaek from 2022 until 2023 when he switched to Gent.

Meanwhile, Gent have 48 points from 29 League matches this season and are fifth in the division.

  • What stands Orban out is his ability to finish clinically even in difficult situations……And to even make things better he is an excellent free kick taker of which he converted one in the last game……I think he is eligible for the u20 as he will turn 21 in June but am not sure of that yet……..His free kick ability is also badly needed in SE as we don’t have a tried and trusted free kick taker.

He is not eligible for the U20.. a player must be born from 1 Jan 2003 to be eligible.. orban was born in 2002.. so he is few months above the required age.. .

If orban was abroad born the pressure to include him to the super eagles will be huge, by now the coach will have gone to prostrate on the floor for him to switch nationality..

We need just 4 strikers for the upcoming games.. oshimen, moffi , orban and akpom.. akpom is the highest gaol scorer in the English chapionship a league harder than many first division in Europe.. Boniface is good but for me needs more time to prove himself..

Iheancho can be included as a midfielder

      @Akp,

He is not eligible for the U20, however, he is eligible for the U23. The good thing is that the U23 AFCON qualifier games against Guinea on the 20th and 27th of March are within the next FIFA International window, so his club will not be able to stop him from a call up.

Even though the U23 squad has been named already, we should give him a “wildcard U23 call up” as a matter of urgency and get him involved asap.

      • Because he scored four goals abi,he may not even perform allow him to concentrate and improve his ability ok

        • He needs no further concentration, he is a professional player with good knowledge of football, so calling him for national assignment would propel his relevance and also add to his value careerwise iinternationally.

Concentrate on what exactly? See the quality of goal this Orban guy scores… How many of our current attackers, apart from Sam Kalu, has scored that kind of roof top R2 goal from that spot? Is it the free kick?
Almost all of our current attackers and midfielders can’t play real shot on target (the Thomas Party lesson stands out, against Ghana in Abuja)? What about quick quality passes (both up and ground passes) – check Kvarashelia in Napoli passes, can Simon Moses or other wingers give those kind of passes to the striker?
Our SE midfield should not be static and rigid, there should be dynamism, swift forward movements, skills, inside/outside foot passing skills (modric, Debrune), forward dribbling skills, etc.

Plssss let’s stop this nonsense deceptions… This was what G.Rohr&co said about Osimhen last two AFCON, that he falls alot, he is this and that… despite his form at club level that time,…
How old was Messi when he was called to the Argentine national team??

          I come in peace!

          • @ nosa God bless you jaree…… They always look for excuses to keep the outstanding young talents away from the national team……This is the reason the NFF kept those local coaches around piesero to make sure he doesn’t make progressive decisions that would affect their satanic structure…… I heard Argentina has already called Gernacho who is Younger than Orban and has made lesser impact in the same time period…….That is a world champion oh……If it’s Nigeria they will say he should concentrate more and focus on his club football so that midiocres can continue playing and disgracing the national team…….. Orban can also slot in well as a 10 which I have seen him play many times…… What Pesiero is galavanting all over Europe looking for is right under our nose here.
